got promoted under big sam playing a similar game plan to stoke and with the right additions have solidly improved over the last few years and are now an established prem team. they have managed to get some great players to their club
last night i thought they were one of the better teams to come to the brit this season
they kept the ball, won most headers and played some decent football at times they were vere unfortunate that our back 5 were in great form
i would love to have seen kevin davies in this stoke team
this is what we are aspiring to be short term
their fans were wank though

If we achieve what they achieved in the Prem I would be more than happy.
Still my dream is seeing the potters lifting the League, FA Cup Champions League and FIFA World Cup in one season.

Said much the same earlier on the 'Dear WBA fans' thread. If we can survive this season then the Bolton's and to a greater extent Everton are the teams we need to model ourselves on.

Although Bolton didn't get much penetration (thanks largely to our immense centre halves) they did look a little more cultured on the ball than us.
With time and hopefully another season under our belts I can see us emulating their pace and style of play - absolutely fine by me...
Well done Mr Pulis, a good starting eleven and the right substitutions at the right times. Would definitely start with Fuller for Mama and Amdy for Salif, though, but no real complaints.
Can't wait for the next game. I just hope the boss can keep faith with his 2nd half Villa formation and have a go at Everton.
Go on Stoke.

I am not so sure mate, their hoof game is worse than ours at points. I think Bolton have two reasons why they may be seen as a better team that stoke:
Kevin Davis : The bloke is just trouble, never loses a head and is VERY strong (Ryan dealt with him brilliantly)
Ricardo Gardner: A player like him who gets forward and still has excellent defensive ability is exactly what we need. He was only on 20 mins but made a HUGE difference
(Possibly Elmander too, but he seems a bit soft for the prem still)

I think this is the blue print for Stoke city's future.

Go back 2,3 or 4 years and Bolton was a team that we dreaded playing. They have always been big, strong, and physical. but they used to have some really quality in the Midfield and some cracking strikers. If you can get to this level - which i think you can - then you are definately going in the right direction. Couple of full backs and a Couple of centre mids that can combine defence and attack, and you'll be almost there.
By the way last night i would said that Bolton were a poor imitation of you lot. They played long ball after long ball, but you actually had a bit more width and Lawrence put some good crosses in.
