He's come into the team over the last couple of months and is showing there is a potential Premiership full back in him but yet again he gets a stupid booking and has to be subbed.
I just can't understand why he made that challenge last night, it was similar to the booking against man utd when he challenged Giggs. the player must of been 70 yards from OUR goal, there was no danger but he puts in a stupid challenge.
As I've said Wilko's got massive potential but he's got to cut out these stupid bookings.

I thought Wilko was subbed because he had taken a knock? I do agree that some of his bookings are needless - but apart from that he has come on by leaps and bounds this season.

I have been a big Wilko critic and until that (again) stupid challenge he was having a good game, he got caught out of position a couple of times but having Lawrence in front of him can make his job harder. He is getting better and it's great to see him getting forward as well, it all adds to the pressure. It's a pity his shot didn't go in, I would love to have seen his celebration!

Knock to the back apparently.
He's coming on with each game. He's starting to believe he belongs in the team and in the premier league. He will keep getting better and hopefully with experience he will eradicate the stupid mistakes and improve on his distribution.

TP needs to have a word because it could spoil the huge improvement he's made and fair play to the lad he form has made him an automatic choice now at fullback. As for his shot not going in...well I am hoping his first ever goal hits the back of the net in front of the Boothen....it will be some mental!

Where are the people who said he isnt good enough and we desperately need a RB, people were crying out for some jonny foreigner called Calve ffs he even had a trail at Bburn and deemed not good enough.
Wilko is a quality player and will only get better and he's a local lad.

I was probably one of them.
I never slated the lad and I always hoped he’d be good enough (along with Dicko) because it’s great to see local lads in the first team. If I’m being honest though I wasn’t sure he was good enough to make the step up when we got promoted.
I’m glad he has though.
We need a song for Wilko!!

Acres made a good point last night when he said Wilko is beginning to believe in himself that he is worthy of his place in the team and is not just covering injuries.
His surging attacking runs are great to watch & i'd just love him to score. I imagine the celebration would be worth watching.
To think we nearly gave him away to Blackpool.

Wilko has come on leaps and bounds and seems to improve every time.
Be great to get Dicko back but not sure how he'd fit in now.

Grow some bleeding hai, die it black, and gerase it down . Talk to the ref with a Portugese accent, and he'll get away with bad tackles. Actually, he's a young player with lots of fire in him. He's playing for the club he loves and gets carried away. Bit like our supporters really, me at least.

Agree with you Mark completely, said exactly the same myself at the match.
However, how big will the mental be if Wilko gets the one to keep us up. Stuff of dreams eh

As I've said Wilko's got massive potential but he's got to cut out these stupid bookings. He is playing at right back, therefore will tend to pick up easy bookings with what is judged to be a foul tackle in the modern game. Compare him with Fuller who plays forward and picks up plenty of yellow cards. He is doing a good job, the yellow cards come with the modern game. That tackle wasn't anywhere near some of the ones in the Wigan West Ham game.

Wilko was never going to join Blackpool- he always wanted to stay here. His bookings can be frustrating but he probably knew he was coming off so thought he would welcome Gardner to the game. That's what I like to think anyway.

That's what I like to think anyway. I said to the wife when Gardener came on-that he's a bit useful,if you let him play. After Wilko had sent him into orbit I said-but then again perhaps he won't fancy it so much now!

he got a knock because as soon as he left the pitch, the physios were all over him.
It was a bit of a daft yellow, but he has calmed his temper and tackles down MASSIVELY since man U. Even his yellow against l'pool was forgivable as they could well have scored if he didnt.

i think he plays football the 'old fashioned way'. Maybe picking up the occasional booking is ok, if he rattles the player he is marking, thus putting him off his game. Like a bulldog marks his territory

I've said he wasn't good enough, but at Villa I think he was great. Probably the first match this year that he played without being totally out of place at any time during the game. He's improving, but gets too many silly bookings.
I'm not sure if we should continue with Wiko, or give Kelly another chance. He'll probably get one sonn soon if Wilko keeps on getting yellow cards.
By the way, our loan signings during the January window haven't exactly been vital signings. Kelly one game and Camara has 60 minutes.

most improved player for me
looked every inch a Championship player shitting himself early this season & is now looking like a solid prem player.
If he can keep it simple with the ball then he's got that place nailed down.
well done.

Agree - Wilko has come on leaps and bounds this term - great to see. Hopefully it will give extra inspiration to Dicko...........then it will be like when Liverpool had Dicks & Ruddock in their defence......... Welcome to the Brit............It's gonna hurt !
