Agreed, great setup for Beat's goal and unlucky with two good shots (one of which fell to Ricci for our second). Tonight, Wheelo looked like the player we thought we'd signed. And as padders says probably alongside lil-faye (who Pulis praised, for his twenty minutes, in his post match interview) ah

He really had the bit between the teeth and went looking for the ball.
A much better performance from him.

He's really coming through now, and like spit says it couldn't be better timing. tbh I'd say he's BETTER than the player we thought we'd signed, he's genuinely capable of dominating a Prem game now and that's a big big step up.

thought it was his best game for the club altho i been saying that a few times i was unsure about him but he would be number 1 center midfielder on my team sheet vs Everton. Well done glenn you were awesome.

I cant beleive how confident he's getting at going forward, it wasnt that long ago when he got a nose bleed when he crossed the half-way line for Rep. of Ireland! He is growing in confidence, just at the right time and I'm loving all this.
Love Whelan and knew he'd come good.
(few typos there due to excitement and guinness!)

That's good to hear...I knew he had a bit more in him than he was showing, he was excellent v Villa and it seems he's improved on that tonight! Good Stuff!

I've never really been sold on him as I thought he was just too slow in movement and awareness , he seems to get caught on the ball too often but this new improved version.... hell yes, keep it up, should have been man of the match tonight.

Whelan seems to be coming of age in the middle of the park, showing the form he has at International level, he is beginning to look like the player we expected when he arrived last season

Glenn Whelan was excellent tonight. How about Ethers, Whelan, Delap and Liam for a midfield. Pace, guile and work rate. Go on Tone you know it makes sense.

It does look like that Villa game could have kick-started his Stoke career.
I was never a Whelan fan until the weekend, but tonight he was immense.

Whelan was superb tonight; a real class act.
So many good performances and it was a toss-up between SGW and Lord Abdoulaye for the Man of the Match.
Just so happy tonight.

When we initially signed him i thought we'd got an absolute bargain based on his form at the time at Sheffield Wednesday. You could argue he hasn't fully rekindled that form yet, but he seems to be really picking up now, just at the right time. Unlike the likes of Diao and Amdy Faye, who are defensive midfielders, who break play down, he offers more creativity going forward, and has argueably the best distribution of all our central players on his day. Could prove a massive player for us over the next ten games. Keep it up Glen.

MOM for me tonight no question.
He looking like a quality player now that Pulis is letting him venture forward more often.
I think to some extent he has been shackled somewhat in the past as he's probably been under instruction from the manager to hold a deep position.

Quality last night. Not fully convinced about him before, but the Villa game and last nights game show what he is capable of. Of course, it also helps when he has better players around him to. i.e. someone in space who can use the ball. Great game, Glenn...More please!

He has been steady but unspectacular...didnt think he was the answer to the lack of creativity in midfield...still not sure...but the last 2 games he has been awesome...2 assists last night would make him my mom...instrumental in winning the game....with his confidence so skyhigh I am expecting another curler from a direct free kick.....well done glen

Agreed Lancer, he semmed that little bit further up the pitch, he really put himself about and was receiving better service to feet. 10 games ago he would of been sat that little bit deeper, having to jump to win the ball and no real outlets. Lets hope he can keep his form and place.

I have always thought Glenn was our best central midfielder and he has raised his game and became very influential last night and his cameo appearance at the Villa.

Super Glen A top midfield performance tonight can't remember the last time i said that about a Stoke player the guy is coming good at the right time "coming good at the right time" If you saw the way he played for Sheff Wed, you will see that at last Tony Pulis is playing him in the role that he performs best. He has always had the ability but like a lot of Stoke players, up to now been stifled by team tactics. Thank goodness he is now playing where he is, with Etherington and Lawrence out wide and Beattie and Fuller up front the goal difference should start to look more impressive as we score more goals.

His technique is good. I know it sounds like MOTD bollox, but watch how he struck that shot on the half volley last night, aswell as the Villa strike, both class. Many players would balloon that into row z, and weve got a few of em!! Another scoring threat from midfield with Lenny and both their set pieces are very important. Must start next game, just hope he can carry it on, and not hide away as he has done in the past. Well done Glen.
