As frustrating as Tone’s tactics have been away from home this season and as hard as it has been following our beloved team on our travels given our horrendous away form, it’s funny how 4 minutes of football can put you on a high and a positive for the remainder of the season.
Although we haven’t won an away match this season, the comeback against Newcastle at 2-0 felt just as good as a victory and the fight back and spirit in the last few minutes against Villa, if anything, was even better.
Put aside whatever grievances you have with Pulis for one second, the “never say die” spirit shown by the players on Sunday made each and every one of us proud to be a potter. Many teams would have thrown in the towel but we kept going to the death. You can argue that on the balance of 90 minutes we didn’t deserve a point but the bottom line is, Villa thought they had it won with the final whistle approaching and our players gave it everything and got a point from a seemingly lost cause. Each and every one of them made me proud to be a potter and watching the celebrations that ensued made me pray that we carry this fight on and secure our premier league status.
There’s been many things stated, both good and bad, about the premier league but whatever your thoughts are – this is the place to be.
We take the momentum from Villa into tomorrow’s game now and get right behind the lads. I really believe we will win and it could be the catalyst for us staying up this year.
We’ve all been up and down throughout the year, it’s been a rollercoaster, but we knew it wouldn’t be easy. After one game (Bolton) I thought we would fall way short of what was required but then a game later (Villa) I thought we would be in the hunt for a top 6 finish (well maybe not, but you get where I am going with this. It’s been up and down all season). It’s not easy being a Stokie at times but none of us would swap it for anything in the world. We’ve shown what it is to be a “proper football” fan this season, we’ve been vocal and passionate more than most, if not all other teams in the league. Whether we have a premier league quality team remains to be seen and will be decided over the remaining few games, whether we have premier league quality fans is not in doubt.
Lets get right behind the lads tomorrow night and spur them on, we have what it takes to stay in this league.
Be loyal, be proud, be Stoke

You're dead right there mate. Did you see Beattie on Sunday. Tackling in the right back position one minute then beating a man and crossing for a goal the next (superman!).
Bet he,s never worked so hard in all his life before he came here, but he's obviously loving every minute.

Brilliant T. Top stuff mate.
I think after the Bolton match we all looked down the fixture list struggling to predict when we would get a point. There were even fears we would 'do a Derby'.
What we have achieved so far has been superb and if you had told me eight months ago that we would be in this position, I would have ripped your arm off.
Football is a funny old game and this time last week we were all gutted about a 2-2 draw. Now, everything is seemingly fantastic and this set of fixtures could shape our season. It is a massive match for us as I can't see our rivals doing very well.
We know there is a split regarding Pulis and believe me, I was tearing my hair out at times on Sunday but we must stay together. We've seen the atmosphere dwindle in so called lesser games at the Brit this season (e.g. Fulham, Hull) but tomorrow is huge.
We need to get behind the lads and, if things aren't going how we want them to be give one of our famous roars or a We'll Be With You chant.
It's not going to be easy, it probably won't even be that fun but we must be together every step along the way.

WE ARE STOKE CITY.
What we do and say can affect the team - Vale's results at home in comparison to ours has proven that.
Great post, stay positive and cheer on the lads.

Spot on J.
We need to get right behind the lads tomorrow and raise the roof.
It’s time to stand up and be counted; both players and fans.

Stirring stuff Tom I think there are quite a few doubters who had us written off at 2-0 down. To the large part though we stayed right behind the boys at Villa and were rewarded massively. We are not going down whimpering like they all predicted that is for a fact. I even think we may have won a few friends over this tough old season.
Goarrnnn Stoke

I think there are quite a few doubters who had us written off at 2-0 down. Including me, and no doubt you I meant to say written off from the league. You would not believe some of the stuff that was being spouted around us mate..Horrendous considering they are supposed to support the team.

I'm feeling a certain sence of euproria after readng that and thinking if we'll be crying and delerious that we've done it, or because... well, you know.
Either way, we'll be here every step of the way.

Sorry mate, mis-understood! I think all went to Villa anticipating a defeat. We expected a better attacking first half performance but for our own fans to be writing us off is bad.
I know everyone is entitled to their opinion but, as Tom says, we need to stick together.

Great post.
It wouldn't be Stoke if they made it easy for us, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

With Abdy and Sorro back tomorrow and hopefully Fuller up front with BT I think we have the beating of Bolton. We’ve got Rory back too and Ethers (after Bolton) – every game is a cup final (cliché alert ) from now on. WD

I don't do cliche's.
At the end of the day, it's a game of 2 halves and every game between now and the end of the season is cup final for us. They are all 6 pointers and it's time to stand up and be counted.

Well we did it!! We got right behind the lads and we clinched the oh so important 3 points required. Beattie is on fire, Fuller is back to his best, Wilko has stepped up, Sorro is Mr Reliable between the sticks, Abdoualye (My Lord) is the rock, Whelan is the creative force we're crying out for and we have the Delapidator back This will be the catalyst for us staying up, I’m sure of that now. One win away against either Hull or Baggies along with the points WE WILL pick up at home and we will be safe. Gooaaaaarrrrnnnn you rip roaring potters. Be loyal, be proud, be Stoke. WD

It's obvious by our players attitude, that they are playing their hearts out for the team and supporters. Their guts and willingness to battle on no matter who we are playing speaks volumes for the team spirit. They also show their affinity with the supporters, by their shows of appreciation after the game, and we really are one unit. The team spirit is thanks to TP, and the affinity is engenderd by the passion of the crowd. Long may it last.

Wilko is turning into the most improved player of the season. Excellent again last night and I suspect his first goal is only around the corner.
Great performance from crowd and players alike last night.
Delighted.

I feel we've got the formula and balance right on the pitch now and we've looking stronger than ever.
Mr Etherington will be back next week to mix it up abit.
