Strong rumours that Keith Downing is to join the back-room staff at Vale. Keith played just sixteen games in season '94-95 at Stoke between playing for Birmingham and Cardiff.
More recently, Keith, was manager at Cheltenham Town for just under a year leaving last September.

Keith was a highly rated assistant to John Ward at Cheltenham. He didn't pull up trees as manager but did keep them up last season which, for a club like the Robins, is as much as can be done....something that Martin Allen has failed to do this season.
Good luck to him. I met him at a Stoke reserve match last season and he just seemed like a genuine football man.
