Hi Guys,
I'm having SKY HD fitted this weekend and wondered if anybody could answer a couple of nagging questions?
More than one person has said that the quality of the HD picture is greatly affected by the standard of the Box-to-TV cable you use. That being the case is the one that Sky provide you with a good one and if not then what's a decent make/standard to be using instead.
I figure if I'm getting HD I may as well do it properly.

Hi mate, i use the standard one and have also got an expensive one that runs from my dvd player. I have tried both of them in the hd box and can't see any difference to be honest.
I owe you some money still mate by the way, i will catch up with you at Villa. Looked for you on Saturday but didn't see you.

Use the one in the box, it's perfectly acceptable. Expensive HDMI cables are a rip off unless you're doing a very long cable run.

There was a test on the gadget show where they had a £120 HDMI cable and a £20 cable. The picture was the same, not enough difference to pay an extra £100 My HDMI cable was £2

as others have said , don't buy from Curries/Comet etc who will charge a fortune, get from Maplins or even Sainsbury's in Stoke, but at the same time, can't really say as I don't have H D yet as I don't think there are enough channels to justify the change, anyone with NTL / Virgin to convince me cos i'm a bugger for gadgets and stuff.

I don't think it's worth getting yet, as there aren't enough HD channels availble for how much you pay. In a few months though it should definitely we worth it

In a few months though it should definitely we worth it Ive had it for over two years now and it is stunning, expecially the big live sporting events. Also the natural history programmes, brilliant! ;D

apparently the Gold coated cables are the best for HD and low delay. All i know is that it is absoloutly fantastic for watching Sport and Movies.

The HDMI Cables at our place (PC World) are a sodding fortune. I've always told customers that they can get them a lot cheaper elsewhere and regularly tell them Maplins in Stoke

I don't think it's worth getting yet, as there aren't enough HD channels availble for how much you pay. In a few months though it should definitely we worth it If you already subscribe to sports and movies then the £9.75 HD subscription is well worth it. It's worth noting that the HD subscription gives you the HD versions of non premium channels whether the SD version is included in your viewing mix. For example, if you don't have Sky One in your subscription you still Sky One HD, etc.
