Firstly , I would like to thank Rory , takes a lot of guts to come to a place such as the Donna Louise on his own and get on with my brother Kavanagh (yes he was names after Graham Kavanagh) But at the end of the day Rory was a real down to earth guy and really got on with Kavanagh from joking around pretending to throw him too them trying to ballance a football between there heads.
Rory has announced he will be doing yet another bike ride for Donna Louise Trust , there will be buckets at the ground saturday for the Stoke City v Portsmouth game please people put as much in the bucket as you can for the S.O.S appeal and wear a badge to show your support for this charity
Sorry if there is another thread about this but i wanted to add my own thank you to Rory , thanks for putting a smile on my brothers face Tuesday Rory , he was over the mood when he saw the sentinal this mornin thank you ever so much and remember people
DONT FORGET YOUR MONEY thanks everyone

I think a lot of footballers do a lot for worthwhile causes but it goes unrecognised. You only hear about scum like Barton.
The trust is close to peoples heart in this area and it's great to see the club and its players supporting it. Well done Rory - keep up the good work.

I'll drop a quid or three in the bucket on Saturday. Hopefully there is going to be an online appeal for Rory's next bike ride?

I heard that Rory had been down there a few times and it has touched him, hence the fundraising. credit to you Rory.
If we all could put £1 in the bucket it would make a big difference .

Admin could you please pin this till after the weekend?? DLT desperately need funds and if all stokies would donate just £1 on match day it would go a long way towards helping. THE Donna Louise Trust has launched an urgent appeal to counteract the credit crunch and help avoid further cutbacks.
A Support Our Services (SOS) campaign launched today aims to raise £300,000 by the end of their financial year on March 31.
Its respite services have already been cut this year as a result of the credit crunch and members of the public are being urged to step in to help keep services going for children with life-threatening illnesses.
Head of fund-raising and PR, Melanie Mills, said: “Today, the charity has put out a strong call to action to everyone across Staffordshire and South Cheshire to rally around their local children’s hospice.
“We are calling on you to join us and raise money so we can always be here for the children and families who need us.”
She added: “Your support enables us to provide emergency respite to support families during difficult times, sensitive medical and nursing support to provide end of life care, counselling for children and families at any stage of the child’s illness, as well as bereavement support and specialist play and music therapy.”
The charity has just begun to shut its doors for two nights a week because donations have slowed during the recession.
As well as encouraging people to stage fund-raising events and give donations, SOS pin badges have been made and will be put on sale across a number of outlets.www.donnalouisetrust.org/

Really good that Rory is doing this. Good on him.
However, I have conflicting views on the Donna Louise. Myself and my family started a charity 2 years ago in memory of my older brother who was killed in a tragic road accident. Our first year we raised money for an ill little girl and for the donna louise as a two part cause.
We had organised for the local papers etc. to view our substantial donation, which they didn't attend. They suggested that they would sort it, we heard nothing. Then when chased up they suggested that we just post it or drop it round.
Eventually we organised a drop off in which we would meet the staff etc. We turned up and nobody was there except the receptionist who told us that they must have forgotten.
I just got the impression that despite the FANTASTIC cause, there is too many people hired who are jobsworth and dont care enough about the kids and the cause.

Bick Sorry to hear of your personal tragedy and experience of DLT. Luckily no-one close to me has had to use DLT's services but I have had a lot of dealing with them as we donate services to the trust and help whenever we can. I can assure you from what I have seen there is very little money thrown away frivolously (and none intentionally) and every member of staff is key to the care process. I've never had the impression of a jobsworth from anyone I have dealth with. It sounds like they have lost a big campaigner in you through a lack of communication The person you spoke to may have even been a volunteer. Please don't let it stop you raising funds in the future!! If you knew how much it cost to provide a single nurse your head would spin and at the end of the day, its the kids that need it.
