I've contacted Villa and the restriction is a handrail
As long as attendees are above about 5ft in height then there will be absolutely no problems.
If you are taking children or someone who is under 5ft then there will be portions of the pitch they may not be able to see without moving their head

Yes, if your looking at the stand it will be the left upper and lower, unless your a small club like Wigan and you can't even fill the lower !

www.footballgroundguide.com/aston_villa/away_fans.htmAston Villa FC Villa Park Away Fans After many seasons of being housed at one end of the ground, away supporters are now located on one side of the Doug Ellis Stand, towards the North end, where up to 3,000 fans can be accommodated. This was at the request of Manager Martin O'Neill who wanted Villa fans to be present behind both goals. One bi-product of this move has been that the general atmosphere inside the stadium has been boosted somewhat. Away fans are allocated both the upper and lower tiers of the stand. The concourse at the back of the upper tier is particularly tight and easily becomes crowded, whereas there is more space behind the lower section. There is a fair selection of food available and it is the first football ground that I have visited that offers meat products that are Halal. There are a selection of pies (all £3.30), Burgers (£2.60), Fish & Chips (£3.50), Southern Fried Chicken and Chips (£3.50), Vegetable Samosas (£2) and Chips & Curry Sauce (£2.50). There are wide screen televisions on the concourse, showing past encounters between the teams before kick off. There is also betting facilities available in the form of a Ladbrokes outlet. Entrance to the stand is gained by entering your match ticket into an electronic reader. A visit to Villa Park is normally an enjoyable experience, with the stewards normally taking a relaxed and friendly attitude. One concern though, is that there is very little separating the home and away fans and this could lead to crowd problems in the future. Now, as I support the other team in Birmingham (and no it is isn't Solihull Moors!), it has been suggested that I am biased against Villa Park. Well all I can say that I have been to the ground on a number of occasions, in fact I can now claim to have sat in every stand, so that just shows you how unbiased I really am! Plus I have even been on the pitch. But that is another story...

£3.30 for a pie??? It had better be made by Gordon bloody Ramsey ;D They were only £2.00 at Stafford Rangers last week and that was a bloody nice pie ;D From the description above it looks like we're in for a small cramped away day!!

The chips and curry sauce are great!! ;D I've also sat in every stand but only in the Doug Ellis upper (close to the Holte rather than North Stand). That day, Villa beat Spurs 1-0. Last time I went was a few months ago when they beat Ajax 2-1- the atmosphere was electric. The Ajax fans filled the lower section of the visitor's area. Really looking forward to this one and the view should be pretty decent. A couple of years ago the North Stand (housed to our right) was full of kids and lacked any noise but since the change around, the atmosphere really rattles around the ground. As for safety, the only time I've been a little bit worried was when I went to the Birmingham derby (the one where Cahill scored an overhead kick). A load of 'Zulu's' chased me as I was walking to my car. The Villa fans are just a load of softies who are there for what we are all there for. Football.

I was at that game, what a fookin goal have that you bluenose bastards. And yes Villa fans are generally very friendly could even wear away colours in the home stand and have no problems.
