I met Kevin on the Manchester-Gatwick plane last Wednesday. The day after Scolari and Adams signed on or off (whichever way you like to look at it). Lovely guy. I asked him if he was on his way to Fratton Park or Stamford Bridge. "No, I'm off on holiday to Portugal" "Everytime someone gets sacked I am asked if I am up for their job" "Its easier if I am away, then I get some peace". Had a nice chat, apparently his golf isn't up to much but he likes playing. As we went through security, this suit appeared from immigration and started asking Kevin if he was British (yes), how long had he been out of the UK ( not left yet) and what was his name ( Kevin Keegan) - "Sorry to have bothered you".... Nice to know the civil service are on the ball. Another useful bit of info- when he fell of his bike on TV- it stung a bit (a lot) and meant a trip to hospital for 4 days. Most of you lot won't even know what I am on about. But as I said, really nice guy. Apparently he knows a guy who says Zigic and Fred are joining Stoke in the summer- go figure

Keegan Story: -
Had a great chance of leading ‘Castle to the Premier League Trophy, got involved in mind games with Fergie, had a monumental breakdown live on TV, royally fucked it up, lost the title, fucked off.
Years later his comeback was hailed as the messiah: second coming, he fucked around for a few months and then fucked off again.
The End

Walked out of jobs as if there's a revolving door - why would anybody want to employ him?

Kevin Keegan had the decency to unveil Sir Stan's statue for the honour with no payment - unlike "Sir" Geoff Hurst who wanted £thousands do it which would have come out of the charitable fund which has Sir Stan's name linked to!

well you're a bunch of lovely blokes aren't you? no wonder this board's so shit these days with clowns like you shooting down every half decent post. jonso, i met keegan in north yorkshire a few years ago, and like you say, he's a lovely bloke. too honest for his own good, and out of his depth in management, but a lovely bloke still you always retain a soft spot for your first favourite "england" player

It's a pity you don't recognise what a great sportsman he was.
But there again it's easier to knock someone that do better than them.

This messageboard is full of idiotic morons.
The responses to this decent thread (about a football story involving a football man) summarise why I feel that way.
Trouserdog got a similar response on his Villa thread (why not feck off and support them then type responses)
Smudge should perhaps split the board into 'Idiots', 'Morons',' Blinkered', 'PHW', 'NPHW' and then 'Football' fan sections.

The bloke seriously does wear his heart on his sleeve. It's a pity he mostly made a balls of his time in management because he truly was a footy legend.

What were immigration doing meeting a Manchester - Gatwick flight? Are you sure it was immigration? Oh yes, when you get a connecting flight you need to exit arrivals and go through security again. I think I have to tell you that it is not unknown for illegals to be in England But questioning Keegan? Classic.

I went to a 'Newcastle-Sunderland' talk the other week over in Gateshead. John Beresford and Gary Bennett were the guests on stage answering questions etc. Beresford was full of praise for the bloke (suppose he wasn't going to say any different to a room mostly filled with geordies). He also said he was tactically 'very good' - wasn't sure about that part.
Mentioned a few things about Gazza too. Pretty interesting stuff.

That was all I needed.
Other posts are full of people posting crap.
Some are trying to build up their post rating by adding random answers to stuff - they know who they are - others are just negative about everything
If you see a post about Kevin Keegan and its of no interest, don't fucking read it, and if you feel the need to read it as you have little else to do, but have nothing interesting/of note/on topic to say, don't fucking post
Less spam - more quality!

Why didn't he fly direct to Portugal from Manchester regular flights to Faro and Lisbon? I thought he lived in the NE so Newcastle also fly to Portugal....flying is a pain in the arse these days...the thought of flying to Portugal via gatwick is a bit stupid

and as for falling off his bike in Superstars, I was watching it at the time, ouch. Can you imagine them letting poofs like Ronaldo do Superstars. And I bet Brian Jacks would still beat everyone at squat thrusts, I can do about 3!

It called balance and opinion, some of you boys need to take off those rose tinted glasses.
Just because somebody spoke to him and say's what a nice bloke he was doesn't make it so and suddenly change all of those childish stupid things he has done go away.
He did the same as a player remember the sending off during the charity shield? He could well have taken his ball home many times as a kid, and has done nothing to suggest that he still wouldn't.
Sir Stan was a lovely bloke and a true sportsman, there is a world of difference.

sir stan was a lovely bloke, who would turn up the the opening of a paper bag, and a footballing genius but his management career was hardly a success was it?
i'm assuming you don't hold that against him?

im rapidly losing faith with some of the moronic posts on here. kk was a legend for both club and country [anybody remember him coming to the vic with soton in the 80's and single handedly tearing us apart.]how many of todays so called super stars would do anything without being paid loads of dosh. so kk deseves respect. yes he says how it is and he gets emotional fuck me is that a bad thing. re quiting newcastle if you worked at that circus how much would you put up with b4 saying fuck it off esp with that little turd dennis wise working behind you[how the fuck did he get england caps?]

I'm just amazed that there's a story about someone meeting a celebrity on a plane and SoiCowboy wasn't involved. ;D
Although I've never actually met Keegan, I'll add my own experience of a time when I nearly did...
Right, what happened was that I was pottering about down the bottom of the garden, when I hear a rustling noise coming from the compost heap. I thought ay up, I bet that's Kevin Keegan in there, but when I looked i realised that it wasn't...it was a hedgehog.
