Well he has the ability to talk up the opposition that's for sure. I should think that come 14.50 this saturday, our players will be headfucked after tone has told them what a smashing team pompey are, that they are the current fa cup holders,we should be thankful just to be on the same pitch as them etc, etc.

simply put NO
pulis is not a premiership quality manager for one reason and one reason only, he is too stubborn.
can almost gurantee mama will play the moment he is fit, ahead of one of camara fuller (when he is back) kitson and BT.
I would expect to see camara and cresswell on the wings with bt and mama up front againt portsmouth, going by pullis usual lineups.
He just doesent seem to see the concept of playing your players in their best positions, and instead seems to have a "if they can play in another position no matter how badly, ill play them there"
Lawrence certainly didnt look hsi best before his injury, but SUReLY he is a better option on the wings than a striker.
Mama was great last season and has been better this season, but he has to be a fair bti down the pecking order now, but I BET he gets played, simply because it has worked before at some point in the past.
I have a lot of time for cresswell, but for god sake pullis give kitson a chance with TWo yes that is TWO wingers and not 2 players who CAN play out wide.
Got a Lot of time for Delap but for god sake pullsi put him in the middle of the park NOT on the wing.
Higginbotham has had all his best matches in a stoke shirt as centre back, so lets see, where is pullis playing???
Pugh calls himself a midfielder and has had hsi best matches in midfield (remember newcastle last season anybody) and where does pullis play him.

to be fair it is a valid question and as some have mentioned, just because he got us here it does not necessarily follow that he can therefore make it at this level, only time will tell on that but if it's proved he can't do it then he will have to be replaced.Football is not the place for sentimentality where we will keep a manger for life because of what they did in one season previously. It is no different from many people on here calling for Cresswell to be dropped permanently; yes he was a major part in us getting to the Prem but can he cut it now hes here? I think we all know the answer to that one. I will ALWAYS have a soft spot for TP for getting us into the Prem but no one man is bigger than the future of SCFC and that's what we need to look to. Simply, this is at the moment a rhetorical thread as we won't know the answer for a while yet but it's equally as simple an answer: If we stay up we keep him, if we don't then he goes as we need someone who can not only get us back up but can also keep us up next time. At the moment i'm fully behind him and believe we'll stay up but if we don't then SCFC are more important to me than TP is. Sorry if that sounds ruthless but that's what football is!

I agree with bolly to a degree (though Im not a PHW)
If only he could see beyond Cresswell ! - The stats speak for themselves and yet he is too stubborn to envisage a formation which exludes Cresswell due to his ability to 'werk arrrd'
He seems (away from home) to be happy that we lost with Cresswell playing than he would be happy that we drew / won without him - Definately a serious flaw in thinking !

It could go either way. I don't think it's a question that can't be answered at this time.
I certainly wouldn't sack him now, at a time when we're still very much in the hunt for survival (something he deserves far more credit for than he gets). I wouldn't necessarily sack him if we're relegated, as it wouldn't necessarily be the apocalypse some have painted it as, and I think he could lead us back up again.
However...if we do go down, while I wouldn't necessarily sack him, some serious questions will have to be asked. The approach to away games is beyond a joke now and we still don't seem to have learned anything from it. A LOT of money has been pissed away on players the manager doesn't deem good enough himself. The continued presence of Cresswell in the team is baffling, as are some other selection decisions. Pulis will need to address these problems f he wants to retain the support of the majority.

To get the 6 away points we’ll need to stay up this season? Not to mention the 12 home points. Pompey, Bolton, Newcastle, Boro, Blackburn. Theres 15 home points for you and as for the away points WE ALWAYS BEAT BRAZIL!!! ;D I could also see at least a point at Hull but if they continue to play shite could easily be all 3

Rubbish, Higgy has been excellent at RB and i wouldnt put him ahead of Ryan or AD at centre half anyway. As for Pugh his best game this season IMO came against Citeh when he played RB

I'm firmly in the rimmer club but Pulis has basically got it wrong away from home all season. There have been winable games without a doubt. We have got to be more adventurous away and try and put pressure on home sides. Ok we're going to get thumped once in a while but we'll sneak a game or two. The way it's gone he may aswell played the reserves away from home save us from injuries and suspensions.

With hindsight we could have gone gung ho in all of our away games and maybe bettered our total. Will tp change his attitude for the remaining games? I think there has been a marked change in the way he approaches games of late with a few more footballers on the pitch and more 'football' being played. Shoot me down but all i think that is missing from that elusive first away win is a huge slice of luck. .... providing the tactics are right of course ??? Its gonna be a nail biter if it carries on like this but i can see Blackburn and Tottenham moving out of the equation and Hull, Bolton and Portsmouth coming right into the thick of it. (lol just looked you watch Spurs lose to Hull on saturday and Blackburn will surely lose at OT) Its gonna boil down to luck and if successful tp will be hailed as a master tactician and if unsuccessful will be judged to have battled the big boys on a budget and gained a lot of credit type of thing. No way will he be judged a failure apart from by dissenting fans. But hey, whats new?

Well on the luck side of things, bar the Liverpool match, we havent got any luck at all which al came to head at Stamford Bridge nd Lampards goal. That deflection could have taken the ball anywhere but with our luck it went straight inot the top corner. If we keep 11 players on the feild and play as we did at Sunderland 1st half, as i taught we played quite well and Camara should have scored, we will get 6 points away and WILL stay up IMO

As an Evertonian, in Tony Pulis, I see a lot of parallels with David Moyes...both quite shrewd and dour. I think if he keeps you up (which I think he will) he can keep you in the prem for a while. I went the Everton vs Stoke game away early on in the season and the atmosphere was electric, keep that up and you'll have every chance.

to be fair it was a reasonable question from Spiderman. TP and the boys responded when many doubted. I noticed a certain belief grow around the club during/following the Man City game (in me as well), and I went to the Brit fully expecting us to win every time.
Whilst I took all those 3 points for granted (Man City, Blackburn, Boro, Bolton, WBA, Hull), with the benefit of hindsight it's important to remember what a massive achievement winning those games, and staying up, actually is.
I don't want to spoil the party but if we stay up next year I'll be delighted - the bottom-12 league of the Prem is a tough one to finish in the top half of, we have done amazingly this season.

to be honest it's about having a bit of belief, and giving someone who's earnt the chance to do things their way to do it. I don't always agree with TP's selection. He has a strong tendency to be too negative, particularly away from home (pointing out the undeniably obvious). He's his own worst enemy. Nobody's perfect though, and he earnt the right to do things as he saw best. He turned out to be right. Regardless of if you think he could've made different decisions at certain times, we'll never be in possession of the full facts as he is, and overall, he made enough right decisions to get the right result. My only away match this year was Fulham, and i can imagine it's been a bit rough this year watching some of the away performances, but balance that out against the home matches. Who would've thought our home record would've been so good? I thought we had a chance of going up last year. Probably play offs. I thought we had a chance to be in with a shout of staying up this year, but that it would go to the last day. We went up automatically last year, and this year, we've been effectively safe for the last 5 or so games. I've been a big advocate of TP for a long time. I felt he didn't get the backiong first time round, and was delighted when he came back. At times he's frustrating, but overall he's outstripped my expectations and then some. Can't wait to see what he can do in the summer, and next season.
hopefully everyone will get behind him.
it's hard to admit you're wrong and just move on, but some people need to do just that. It's time to stop all the "mark TP out of ten for the match today" type rubbish. Sure we can question his decisions. Football is about opinions after all, but the vendetta some people have on here has to be dropped. The only man who has time to rock the boat is the one who isn't rowing. Get behind the team AND the manager. You might even find you enjoy it even more.
GOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRNNN TP!!!
GOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRNNNNNN STOKE!!!
