your best using one of the car parks you have to pay for, if you park infront of the houses you'll get a ticket. Most exspensive is about £5 but its worth it if it means not getting a ticket

Thre is a large-ish industrail estate right near the ground, but if you there early there is a pub down the road that has a small car park, was £3 last time I went and was only 100 yards away from the ground. If you do park in the housing estates, there's usually a few kids about who'll ask for some cash to look after your car. If you don't give 'em owt, they'll damage your car, so be careful.

Living where I do I've been to Villa many times. I would advise lock the car up ,go on train to New strret and get the train from New street to Witton which drops you off across the road from the away end. most of the pubs are a bit erm ropey near to villa Park so for this one I'll be supping in Brum before ... and after the match.

Spoke to my mate who is a Villa season ticket holder. He parks at Aston Villa leisure centre. Just off junction 6 M6. About 6 quid. Plenty of spaces if you get there about 2ish. About 30 mins to get away after unless you leave few mins before the end. Wouldn't want to miss Mama's last minute deja vu though. ;D

traffic is a nightmare you'll be there for longer than 30 mins, aand thats even with the roads being one way. Best bet is parking in the power league its right next to the motorway, plus if you park in the leisure centre it will take thhe piss geting on te m6

Will be drinking in town too - where do people reckon they are going for? The Square Peg (wetherpoons) anyone?

Spoke to a friend who's a ST holder there today. He parks on the Power League as well so that's where I'll go. £4 or 5, I forget which but at least its safe.

I would not drive, get the train to New Street and then to Witton which is closest to the away section. Aston station is a two minute walk away from the ground though.
Be very careful parking, spurs fans got stitched up by lads in high viz vests who let them park and charged them only for their cars to be towed away.
The power league is absolute madness, so i would stay away from there.
Don't ask how i know all of this but these are facts.

Getting off at Aston is more thana two minute walk, more like ten. You will also be likely to run into their "boys" who drink at the two pubs by Aston station and walk by a pub where they also congregate. Use witton, saves everything! If you are on the motorway within half hour after parking at the Power League, you've left the match early!

Last year my brother went in the square Peg and its not a nice pub apparently. May have changed since then but he said it was rough and got some funny looks.

If i was any of you lot i would stay away from town unless you are getting the train, and if so just be sensible and hide your colours till you get to the ground. If driving down i would just go to the away pub the 'Cap n' Gown' it is more or less right outside the ground. Like i said i would stay clear of town, know quiet a few of the villa lot who try starting fights and think they are the boys up town, its not worth the hasstle if you ask me.

Traffic outsoide the group is a nightmare with some roads being shut off completely.
Wouldn't recommend leaving your car on one of the back streets either, not a particularly nice area.
If you have the option to get the train then I would, its a 10 minute walk to the ground from the station.

Regarding the 'Square Peg'... not a particularly rough pub and usually some door staff on etc, just a crap pub to be honest.
Cheap beer though as with all Wetherspoons!

Stokester - that's the reason why I mentioned I was considering it - 99p a bottle of San Miguel can't go wrong ;D
But, I've only ever been in the Square Peg the once since moving own here to uni, the other spoons' in Brum aren't up to much from what I've seen either. Any other good recommendations for pubs in Brum, or is it really going to be best to just head for the Cap n Gown?

The Yard Ale is also ok and cheap, just outside the train station.
Square peg is fine but on a match day could be very busy.
Know what you meen about San Miguel, feel like ordering four everytime I go to the bar!

A Villa mate of mine has just said that away fans usually go to the Cap n Gown on the roundabout at Witton, just up from the North Stand.
Although you can park on UCL (Birmingham City Campus). There is a nice pub nearby, called the Hare of the Dog (he does mention no away colours though, so not sure what he means by nice, perhaps it has windows)!

Anyone know how far to walk from NCP car park just round corner from Birmingham Children's Hospital? Or anyone recommend car parks closer to? Daughter's first ever away game and want to make sure she enjoys the day.

Definite train for this one, Witton station from New Street. As for drinking, the City Centre is so large you'd be unlucky to bump into a bunch of knobs from villa so I suggest get off at New Street, enjoy a few beers in town and then back on the train around 2.30 to Witton.

me and a few mates are planning on drinking in Stafford, then getting the train to Witton via New Street and drinking in a pub near the ground? Is this safe? We won't be wearing colours or mouthing off looking for trouble, but you never know at some of these grounds how welcoming the locals will be??

Cap and Gown is the best away pub, literally 200 yards from away section of ground, very rarely any trouble, this is where the police prefer the away fans to drink aswell

If you fancy a pint in the centre of Brum the wellington on Hill st is good for real ale, and the Old Joint Stock opposite St Phillips cathedral is also pretty laid back. Both Pubs are next to Colmore Row which has plenty of Taxis I would guess if there were four of you it would cost about £3 each to the ground.
