Andrew Davies has joined Preston on a months loan.
Good move for him really.

It will give him much needed match practice.
The injuries to Higginbotham, Shawcross & Cort mustn't be too serious.

Definately good for match practise!
The total lack of reserve games has been a major problem for us.

Hopefully Tonge can get a loan move as well.
He's clearly not happy with not playing and the lack of reserve games has not helped.
Maybe a one-month move just to gain mach practice.

Needs first team games - strange signing really? was injured when we signed him, and doesn't appear to be any better than what we have already got?

I think with Ethers snd Delap suspended, Soares away on loan and Liam not fully match fit/out of favour, there's a chance that Tonge will get some first team action in the next few weeks. RoryM

Another act of charity by the messiah. Why the hell did we bother signing all these players just to farm them out on loan or stagnate in the reserves? Makes my blood boil...

not every signing you make turns out to be great, if it was that simple we would have won the premiership this season.
if you look back tp has made many more good signings than bad ones

Of course not every signing you make is going to turn out to be a great one, but we've got a position at Stoke where a lot of money (by our standards) has been spent on players who are making little or no contribution to the first team.
If we stay up then TP's transfer record this season will be vindicated, but If we are relegated, then like it or not questions are going to have to answered.
Davies was injured when he signed and hasn't had a look in since he recovered. There's more than a sniff of a suspicion that the transfer allowed Pulis jnr to get a three year contract at Southampton as well. How many games has he played for them by the way?

He's gone to talk Parkin into coming back. ;D Maybe he made some of these signings in case we go straight back down. We may struggle to keep players like Shawcross, Beatie Abdy F. Some of them players maybe average prem players but would be very good for us in the Championship. Just a thought.

I am still expecting big things from him.
It seems to me that Pulis is building for the next couple years with the likes of Soares, Tonge and Davies. And keeping them playing is likely to lead to a first team challenge.

For all those condemning him and TP for buying him when unfit - think about it - we've had 1 - yes 1 in the past 3 months and that reserve game coincided with the Dubai training camp so not one of the real 1st team reserves actually took part!
This in my opinion is utterly rediculous - we have several players who are desparately short of match practise and reserve games are what we need. If we'd of had a full reserve fixture list over the past few months it would of helped us to get the fringe players up to match sharpness and put some more pressure on the 1st team and not having to resort to Cresswell because he's the only fringe player who is match fit!
Loaning out player at the moment is our only way to ensure they get any kind of game time!
Davies I think will come good he's proven in the past he's got the quality - I can't remember which game he came on as a sub but in that short period of time on the pitch it showed just how far off match sharpness he was.

I think Tone couldn't get the players he wanted, so spent his money on Relegation Insurance players. Tong, Soares, Olifinjana, Davies, are all extremely good championship players, and would help give us a really strong squad should the unthinkable happen!

Why would anyone buy players for a league below their own positon? Surely premiership teams should buy premiership players. Planning for future failure seems an acceptance of that failure and I can't believe anyone would do that.

I don't think he was planning for failure. That's not what "insurance" means. I have car insurance, but I'm not planning to crash my car!!!! I think he bought them because they have premier league potential, however this season has proved that they're not quite there (yet?). Why else would he buy Tonge in one window, then go out and buy Etherington in the next?? I'm sure he hoped that they would step up to the mark, and help us stay up, however he know's that they can do it in the Champ.

Maybe TP got it wrong.
The players we had seemed pretty good in the championship too. TP has proved that he can assemble decent championship teams on a championship budget.

Agreed. But I think he's got it right with Etherington, Beattie and Camara. Definitely Premiership quality!!!

Sorro, Etherington, JB and Abdy have been great buys. I have also been surprised at the impact that Amdy has made as the season has gone on, as his arrival had initially left me perplexed. Also for the money Danny H has been a success at left back. TP has certainly made some very good signings this year.
