Dunno how many of you decided to watch Ireland last night, to support Glen and Stephen, but fucking hell, did anyone see the penalty?! 72 minutes gone, Ireland were 1-0 down and looking in deep shit. Then inexplicably, after it looks like the linesman has flagged Robbie Keane offside, the referee seems to interpret it as a penalty. Having showed it again and again on sky, nothing happens, absolutely nothing! Theres no challenge, no nothing! The only thing that was suggested was handball, although the ball was a good foot over the Georgian player's shoulder and the ref was right in line! Unsurprisingly, i conna find it anywhere on the internet to link it! It begs the question about match fixing though. If you think thats a bold statement, you need to see the decision to believe it. It's as bad as Atwell's goal that wasn't!

i did see that yeah, the linesman put his flag in the air flagging for offside. for a penalty they put it across there chest. at least i thought they did if they could see the foul or hand ball

I remember Dean Crowe getting a peno when Brian Little was in charge, can't remember who it was against but the Ref blew and everyone was wondering what for, he then pointed to the spot. No one appealed or anything. The pen given against Salif in the Colchester game 2 seasons ago was very poor but not in the same league as last nights.

The ref was dreadful last night... Ireland had a good goal disallowed and a blatant penalty appeal turned down in fisrt half. If it were in the Prem Georgia would have been down to 8 men !! I think he was trying to even things up with the penalty he gave but I agree it was a strange one....... Oh well SA here we come

Mark, The Dean Crowe penalty as for shirt pulling. I know someone who sat in the lower tier of the Main Stand that day and they saw it as clear as day! Was only a tiny tug on the shirt but the linesman spotted it and signaled for a penno.

To be fair I would say that the ball brushed the outside of the Georgian's shoulder (certainly not a foot away!). The ref gave it immediately without looking at the linesman (you can see this on the replay from behind the goal).
A very generous decision & if I was Georgian I'd be feeling very hard done by... As I'm Irish though WAHAY!!!
As for match fixing, seeing as Ireland were odds-on favourites with a well-known (but unpopular in the Potteries!) Irish bookmaker, surely any skullduggery would have been working the other way around? i.e in Georgia's favour?

Can't be any worse than the decision not to give Sunderland a penalty on Saturday.

Can't be any worse than the decision not to give Sunderland a penalty on Saturday. I'm assured by a member of staff at the club that Pugh's 'save' was a planned occurence. It was to remind us of Marlon Broomes and Crewe Alex- which in turn reminds us of exactley how shit we used to be.
