Stoke City defender Andy Wilkinson will be out of action for up to four weeks as he recovers from a double hernia operation.
The 23-year-old full back suffered the injury in Stoke's 1-1 draw at Ipswich Town, on January 12, and was substituted after 19 minutes at Portman Road.
Wilkinson has been forced to sit out Stoke's previous two fixtures including their FA Cup replay defeat at Newcastle United.
On Tuesday, Wilkinson went for a scan on the troubled area and after discussions with a specialist underwent the operation yesterday at a private hospital in Manchester.
Wilkinson said: "I should be running in a week and hope to be back in two-to-four weeks."
Meanwhile, Ricardo Fuller and Demar Phillips have been included in the Jamaica squad for their two upcoming friendly internationals against Costa Rica and Trinidad and Tobago.
Fuller, Stoke's top scorer, and midfielder Phillips are in line to play after being selected by Jamaica boss Bora Milutinovic.
The Costa Rica match is scheduled to be played on February 6, at Jamaica's National Stadium, in Kingston, while the Trinidad friendly will take place at the same venue on March 26.

Hernia ops are no where near as they were in the past. Over the last 12 - 18 months new methods has reduced recovery time down to a minimum.
Get some rest Wilko lad, ready for the final push.

Do those who thought TP was daft to sign Griff wish to change their minds?

How come, when OWen head is Hernia op it was all over skysports news, and there was a guy from I think Cheltnham, someone crappy like that. Anyway, they both had their op in the best place around in Germany, why didn't we send Wilko there

Shame for Wilko he was looking like he might earn a run in the team, not to worry though I'm sure TP has already scrambled all his scouts to find another defender on loan immediately ;D
