Anders Jacobson and John Dreyer did very good jobs for Stoke worth a mention.

Abdy. Faye is over-rated. No doubting he's a quality player, but he's not the world beater some make him out to be.

What's your problem? Abdy. Faye isn't totally infallible, like it not. I was wondering where he went at one point on Saturday when he left Robinho on his own. I'm delighted he's a Stoke player, and he is a good player, clearly, but the obsession with him on here is over the top for mine.

Shawcross could become a legend if he stays long enough, same goes for AB. They complement each other well except for the odd clearance from ShawX and some 'over anticipation' from AB, probably his onle error against Citeh.
Another day in the life of a CB.....shit happens ;D
CB's as a pairing though .......it must be Overson and Cranson. Very dependable and scored their fair share of crucial goals.

Abdy, he is performing in the best League in the world. With the greatest of respect to some of the other wonderful players mentioned, they played for us against some mediocre opposition. Correct! This guy for me looks like one of the best CB's in this league, I really cant believe we have him. Silly silly Newcastle for letting him go

Sergei Shtanyuk
I take the point that he didn't play for us at this level but it wasn't his fault we were a bit toss at the time.

I know that the ;D suggests that you're not being serious, but was Potter a centre-back? For me, a tie between Abdy Faye & Shtanuik, but if you bring into account his leadership as captain, Overson. As someone else has said, Larus Siggurdsson was also very good and tends to get forgotten.

Going back a bit further, I always had a 'soft spot' for Dave Watson.
Not necessarily because he was the greatest centre half, but because I used to sit next to his gorgeous, short skirted, glamour model type wife in the Boothen stand. Happy days!

overson 4 me but abdy faye surly will be if he stay with us 4 a few years Whilst i agree with your assessment of these 2 fine centre halves i have to point out that you've overlooked that as good as Overson was, he was replaced by, and in my opinion, the finest centre half i can recal in my time as a Stoke fan....... ......step forward, the one, the only, legend that is.......... .....John Clark! Oh the memories coming flooding back, cultured, finesse, class, quality, stylish, to name but a few words never before put in the same sentence as THE legend, John Clark.
