I reiterate:
These retards at other clubs who say that we play awful football and don't deserve to be in the Premier League and that we're unwatchable want to pull their heads out of their arses, take a good look at their own team and wake up. Almost every team in the Premiership plays the same, dull, stereotyped tippy-tappy shite. There's no other word for it, it's preposterous nonsense. This, coupled with diving mercenaries, mediocre players on high wages and a clear Premier League bias towards the big four for monetary purposes, is the reason why The Riverside Stadium, The Reebok Stadium, Fratton Park (no, really), The CoMS, Craven Cottage and so on are all half empty and nobody asides from their own supporters has any interest in them. They are dull and rubbish. Who wants to watch a no-mark team with no history like Wigan playing in front of a half empty ground doing nothing? Nobody does.
Foreign supporters, who the FA seem very keen to pander to, like us. I can tell you why. We're exciting. Our home games that have been live on Sky this season have been better than anything else they've had on. People are fed up of overpaid nobodies throwing themselves around like tarts and are glad of a team that finally likes to play hard but fair and whose players get up when tackled. I'd rather see, for example, Danny Higginbotham get up and nut a player after a poor tackle than I would see him roll around on the floor. Whilst the former is indefensible, the latter is just embarrassing. Asides from the precious new fans who don't know anything about proper football, people actually welcome this, they like seeing fairies getting smashed to pieces, a team mixing things up, big teams getting upset and playing the game how it SHOULD be played. Do people really want to sit around and have to watch over-rated no marks like Ronaldo and Heskey roll around the place but have the referees pander to them and lick their boots? No, not really.
We may get relegated, but that's something to feel good about.

I think thats a cracking post MD, apart from the bit about Wigan.
I'm sorry, but regardless of how much history the club has got, they deserve to be in the premiership because of the football they play, and the results that they get. Their fans (well, the ones that turn up) should be praised for not turning over to the darkside and supporting the shite, like so many people from Wigan do. It is gloryhunters like these, that are ruining football. Just take one look at the football clubs around Glasgow, and how much they stuggle.
I love that Stoke City has a rich history, and i think thats a great asset to our club. However other teams such as Leeds, Nottingham Forest and the Sheffield clubs all have a great history, and i would love to see them back in the top flight, but that doesn't mean that they should automatically play in the premier league. You get there by earning it. and thats exactly what we did last season.

I didn't say that they should be thrown out of the league, just that they're not an attractive proposition for anybody.

I didn't say that they should be thrown out of the league, just that they're not an attractive proposition for anybody. Well, they're an attractive proposition to myself because not only would i like to see my club achieve what they have but it gives me heart too. Plus they must be making tons and tons of money simply by remaining in the Premier League now that's pretty attactive to outsiders too. Wigan, they're a bloody damned good side with a fantastic manager at the helm. Edit - By the way, great post.

Great post Mystcal....STOKE CITY may not be the most glamorous club in Britain but where ever you go people know of it and its supporters. We are STOKE! The media are as shallow as the fans of the so called 'bigger clubs' who have lost all appreciation and respect for the sport. STOKE CITY .....KEEPING IT SIMPLE..... KEEP IT REAL

I didn't say that they should be thrown out of the league, just that they're not an attractive proposition for anybody. ok fair play. i mis read your comment then. i just don't buy into the whole, Wigan/Boro/Bolton/Fulham etc shouldn't be in the PL just cos they're boring. like some people think!

I actually like Bolton. Found member of the Football League and so on, not that that's criteria for a team to be in the Premiership.

Bruce is doing a really good job there at the moment, just look at their league position, they have come on leaps and bounds this season so far and the days of Paul Jewell being on MOTD making excuses for his teams poor performance are now long gone. They are a solid unit and hard to play against. They grind out results against teams that are better on paper; something which we quite like to do ourselves. But as for Boro yeah get southgate and his lot out of the premier league pronto

Come on, lads, Wigan are there on merit just like we are. They are a small club, with small gates, and so even more credit to them. I like the idea of the smaller clubs being there, (we're condidered a smaller club by many of the deluded fans of other teams), football needs it. Time the media opened THEIR eyes and realized that football belongs to all of us, not just the big four, with their overpayed prima donas, but don't hold your breath.

I think you're a bit harsh on Wigan. I don't like them, to be honest. I cannot think of a single thing I like about Wigan. Wigan have earned their right to be there as much as we have. They also have some exciting players like Valencia, Figueroa, Zaki, Rodallega. They're not a bad blueprint for how a fairly small club can win promotion and establish themselves. This "they're a no-mark club" attitude is dangerously close to the kind of arrogance with which supporters of Big Four teams view teams like Stoke.

That's a fair point. I remember not being very happy with some of the Leeds' fans remarks about Dickinson the other week.
