I think he was born in England but was called up to the Irish national squad (through his grandparents if memory serves me right)

Liam is English by birth but represents the Republic of Ireland. He was called up in 2006 by Steve Staunton but was an unused sub. He has no caps as yet.

Ireland's current squad just can't be arsed. Look at Robbie Keane. He'd much rather get his goal bonus for Spurs than help Ireland qualify for a majot championship. He's been shit for the Republic for the last 4 years. The rest of the squad are as bad. We're just about treading water on Richard Dunne and Shay Given at the moment. And then the odd player like shane Long who'll work his socks off on the odd occasions one of the Prima Donnas is out

Perhaps they should give the fringe players a game then?

As someone who has been tho the last 12 games I take it you haven't. Robbie ran his sock off in the Euros. Richard Dunne hasn't set the side alight but how you are aware of Robbie's feelings towards Spurs and his country are beyond me.
To answer the question, Steve Staunton picked Liam in his first game in charge but has yet to win a cap. Has been well touted this season in the Irish press so fingers crossed on that one.

No I haven't been to the last 12 games because I haven't been able to get my hands on tickets. I have watched them all though and I stand by what I said. Robbie just doesn't seem bothered when playing for the Republic.
The fringe players should definitely be given a chance. Ireland's midfield have been anonymous since Japan/Korea. We need someone with a bit of bite to play there.
Can't see the problem with playing LL on the right. Apart from the fact that he doesn't play for Sunderland any more. Altough as with everything over here, the support for Sunderland is waning fast now that people have realised Man Ure have a better chance of winning the premiership
