Pugh has had plenty of very very ropey games at Left back, got murdered by Scott Sinclair last season & struggles big time in the air with crosses from the right side (to teh back stick).
saturday SWP struggled to get into positions to attack Pugh & Danny cashed in by showing what a good player he is with the ball at his feet.
i.e. Pugh at left back we got away with it Pugh in midfield please

Yes it appears we were back to our C list again yesterday.
Riggott was the 1st choice CB, Davenport was the the 2nd choice CB...and we ended up with Kelly.
Danny Murphy was 1st choice midfielder, O'Neill was 2nd choice, Mokoena was third choice and we ended up with neither.
Glad to see the truth about Ledley finally coming out with Pulis saying:
“I think everybody knows how much I like Ledley and I think he will eventually play in the Premier League,” he said, “but we were looking for a different type of midfielder this time, one we missed out on.”
A-teen_6_T-3 was well off the mark with that saying we already had an offer agreed with Cardiff and saying he was at the ground yesterday, what bollocks.

No, I was happy with promotion, and will also be happy if we stay, but Stoke isn't very much fun to watch any longer. I don't know how old you are Luke, but I'm 25 and this, Lou's tenure aside, is by far the most fun it's been for me.

I've been watching Stoke since 1971, and I've enjoyed my football a lot earlier, even if I've gone through tough times before.
Durban gave us promotion, but not the best football, under Barker we played hoof ball, Jordan and Little wasn't great times either, but I still find it harder to live with Pulis now. Football has changed over the years, but Pulis will never change it seems.

Football has changed over the years, but Pulis will never change it seems. You see I just don't understand how someone can feel it was worse under a promotion winning manager who's team has given us some unforgettable moments than it was under Jordan, Little, Bates, Kamara - all who gave us both dire football and dreadful results. Brian Little played some dire long ball stuff. I remember months of his teams aimlessly punting it up to a midget in Dean Crowe. Even Gudjon could be achingly, painfully negative. How can you feel Pulis is worse?

Since Pulis arived the first time, he has just played in one way, defend. In the beginning it was almost always either 0-0, 1-0, 0-1 or 1-1, and I've never seen any manager having a game plan like this. It's not fun seeing your team for more or less 90 minutes on our own 18 yard box.

It's not fun seeing your team for more or less 90 minutes on our own 18 yard box. That's not entirely true though is it? When he arrived in 02/03 we were embroiled in a relegation battle, as we are now - in such a battle you tend to have to get your defence right and grind out some results. In 03/04, when we were amongst the favourites to be relegated, we actually enjoyed a fine season of consolidation and scored a fair few goals. If it was just "defend" as you say, would we have beaten WBA 4-1? Reading 3-0? Watford 3-1 away? 04/05 was garbage - no argument there 06/07 - ups and downs but we were in the play off hunt, took points off all the promoted teams and beat Leeds 4-0 away, Norwich 5-0 at home, Colchester 3-1 at home etc. So it was hardly just "defend" was it? 07/08 we were amongst the top scorers in the division. And were promoted. Pulis has done and will continue to do a lot wrong, but I just don't understand how anyone could say they'd prefer the Little or Jordan days.

Ah, yes. Brian "Five at The Back in The Third Tier" Little. Just thinking about it makes me want to weep.

But Little didn't last long, did he? He lasted a season before, thankfully, he toddled off. Are you suggesting you hate Pulis because he's been successful enough to give us a winning team?

We're all entitled to an opinion, m8, but you really do hammer on in a way few people take seriously any longer.
Best go for a lie down I would say and leave the rest of us to enjoy and respect what TP has brought - at least a year of pleasure even if always on the brink.

I'm always looking for better times with entertaining football, no matter what league we're playing in.

www.smallheathalliance.com/board/read.php?1,440288 According to the Birmingham forum, David Sullivan (who also wanted him) said in a radio interview today that Stoke offered a higher loan fee to West Ham for Davenport, but he chose to go to Sunderland? Also quoted as saying "Kelly does not want to be at Birmingham, he wants to be in te Premier League..."
