Robbie Keane has only figured in 19 games for Liverpool and scored 5 goals- hardly a disaster. One less that Berbatov who has played more games. I fail to see too much he's done wrong. Started off slowly and started to find the net. Rafa since his upturn in form seems happy to leave him on the bench no matter what-ie the Stoke game when surely they could have benifitted from him on the pitch. Surely more to this than meets the eye-is not as if he's failed to score goals and been a complete disaster, doesn't add up. If you'd paid £20m for a striker though, you'd expect him to a) play more and b) score more. On that level, given the expense, it's been a disaster. I don't think that's Keane's fault though.

How can he play more if the manager drops him the week after he scores then benches him for the next 3 games without once bringing him on???? Seems that Kuyt will play no matter what and Robbie despite at last finding some form wasn't going to be picked no matter what.
Like I said- Berbatov has played more games, cost a lot more and scored 1 more goal.
How can Keane be a 'disaster' as you put it? Surely Berbatov equally so????

Well Berbatov's got 4 more goals overall, 1 more in the league -as much as I rate him, for £30m, the jury's still out on him, I'd argue Tevez perhaps offers more. As I said, it's not Keane's fault, but for £20m the manager has neither trusted him enough to play him regularly and when he has played he's looked, at times, lost. They've taken between a four and 8 million pound loss on him, depending on who you beleieve. Whatever spin you put on it, you can't argue it's turned out well for either party.

We are all football managers Rob and have differring opinions ( Kitson included- I ignore RAF on this as I think he believes he's some ex flying ace...there was always a ginger in them old movies).
Is odd that some knock Rafa's selections, especially in Europe where his record is immense. However, sometimes he just does the outright outrageous. The 2-1 defeat to Milan especially when despite trailing to a soft goal and being on top- the Kewell substitution was one of the most baffling decisions I've ever seen. I do feel that it Liverpool do lose the title then most fingers will point his way. I don't get what selling Keane achieved apart from losing an option- he's a fairly unique style of player that he signed for a reason and seemed reluctant to play him in the last few weeks. I can't for one second believe it was a tactical thing after such a short period of time. Reading the comments on Sky etc it has bemused a great deal of 'Pool fans as to a ) Why he was reluctant to give him any pitch time of late b) Why sell him so quickly at such an apparent loss without replacing him.
You seem to know a bit about the game Rob ( despite liking Kitson :-) ) and surely you must think it odd???
CL and Prem to aim for am baffled.

I think Rafa makes some bizarre decisions that make sense to him and nobody else. Sticking with rotation for years too long, thinking Lucas offers anything at all etc. During the recent home game I thought Riera was giving Wilko some problems, then they switched the wingers and Benayoun wasn't nearly as effective against him. I don't know if it's his natural caution or if he's so stubbornly determined to prove that his way works, (Gudjon style) but it looks to have cost them the title for another year.
