I think it's going to be a quiet couple of days now, until Monday where we are going to be very bust I expect 2 or 3 players coming in. We have a lot of moeny to spend, I just hope we spend it wisely. And I know a lot of you disagree but signing Leldey would be 6 million well spent, considering where else it could go! This is no information I ahve just a feleing... Well I know we got money to spend, and I know theres opne or 2 'past targets' in the frame... lets just see what happens. Maybe we'll get surprise or 2 aswell I'm sorry to post a useless random thread but it makes a change to all the "come on lets get behing the lads" and "we were shit last night" posts

I have been up for Ledley all the way but i can't see him coming. They won again tonight so i think they will try and keep him to push for promotion for the pay day !

Only time will tell whether or not Ledley would be £6million well spent but yes, I can't see us signing anyone else like him and considering we've brought in Olofinjana, Soares and Tonge who Pulis obviously isn't keen on, we definately know that Ledley would get played regularly and therefore could be a bit hit for us.
It's a risk and probably wouldn't happen but one I'd be prepare to take, unless there are better, cheaper options available of the same calibre of Ledley.

Exactly, we could sign Leldley for 6 million and him make the difference in stayin up or goind down..On the other hand we could lose out on leldey (I amdit, it's been very quiet on the Leldey front recently - ive heard naff all) and we could sign some crap championship players - ones we've been linked with miles Addison, Those 2 from saints, Tommy Smith etc... and wast the 6million quid
Tone still as around 9 million to spend at least so lets see what he does with it

It has always been my understanding that Mr Coates does not give a finite figure available re: transfers, but rather TP highlights players and price and then each one is judged on it's individual merits as a business deal.

I hope its not a total anit-climax like the last one where SSN were at the Brit just to laugh at us for failing to sign Ledley.
I'd love Ledley to come in. He could make all the difference for us, you only have to look in the past really when Everton signed a relatively untried Tim Cahill from Millwall and look what happened there?!. I would be gutted if we were in for Ledley and lost out as I believe, if TP uses him correctly, he could link up well with Beattie and Fuller. Get Liam back in on the right, Ethers on the left and bang, we shoot up the league.
I don't like all this quietness on our transfer front. After Tuesday night (apologies for bringing it up) I hope TP can see some changes need to be made.

Quite a strange comment IMO, undoubtedly VFM does play a part, but it is easily worth paying £10m for a £5m player if they would keep us in the prem, so you need to look not only at what the player is worth, but what it may cost us not to sign them, even if that involves paying over the odds.

Although I wouldn't give him any more money, if he does have some to spend he should look at Michael Johnson from Man City. I see he's linked with QPR for £2million this morning.
Decent young player, with a Prem experience (Sven loved him last season) and probably wouldn't leave if we went down. Also very good potential sell on fee if he improves.

Ledley does semm to be that missing player, who could just add that bit of quality that's lacking in the middle. Starting XI if we sign him.
GK Sorenson RB Griffin LB Higgy CB Ab Faye CB Shawcross DM Delap RM Lawrence LM Etherington AM Ledley ST Kitson ST Beattie
That's a bloody good side there!

Yeah we still need full backs to add to that don't we, but at leats there's experience and grit there. It would keep us up I think. Then next season, 2 full backs please!

Albania, I think the Full Backs are needed now and are one of the fundamental problems we have. We will never be able to push forward when the 2 wide players have to continually sit in and cover, the first goal against Spurs was a perfect example of it as Wilko was gesturing to Amdy Faye to close him down and Faye was in the middle, its all about opinions, but with two proper full backs who dont just sit and wait and rather anticipate and pass the ball as opposed to th never ending punts up field then that will release Ethers and LL should Liam ever play again, but thats a whole other story.
Sitting and letting World class midfielders run at you is just asking for disaster IMO
Anding hoofing balls continually down the channels went out in the 80's
