were all lined up to go to Charlton with Andy Gray coming the other way, loans to the end of the season. We were still going to pay their wages and Charlton were still going to pay for Gray. Parkinson and Pulis thought it was a done deal and were simply staggered when Gray refused. It seems his wife simply didn't fancy it. Or so I was told today my mate on the management team at CAFC. My man says Gray is a lovely bloke and that his wife has had some health issues recently and maybe that was a contributory factor........and he also said that nobody at Charlton could see how Pulis could think Gray was Premiership class!

This is a strange one. I don't think Gray is even top-half championship class, let alone prem standard. Maybe it was a bit of a desperation bid when little else seemed on the table(just like most of our summer signings)?

Any idea where Pulis saw Gray fitting in?
Wasn't Parkinson quoted as saying one of the reasons it fell down was that he didn't want to be a bit-part player here?
Was it supposed to be until the end of the season or just a month?
Even in a season of strange deals, this would have been ONE HELL of a weird one. I can't get my head 'round what on earth we were thinking? I couldn't have seen him getting on the pitch, as this was post-James Beattie. Truly bizarre!

Perhaps Sidibe isn't as close to a return as Pulis hopes and Gray was a player he felt he could use, perhaps in away games.
It's clear that Kitson hasn't got much of a future, and he's proved that he's not adverse to dropping Fuller on our travels.

If we needed a Mama mark 2 I'd have gone for Makakula, maybe he was too foreign and inexperienced?

It's obvious why Pulis wanted Gray. It was so that he could play Gray and Cresswell together up front, so that he could leave Beattie, as well as Fuller and Kitson on the bench.
