Because I can't see a way out at this moment. ??? Beattie and Etherington are good additions, but in all honesty they are the only oasis in a sea of mediocrity if you consider the rest, apart from Lawrence and Fuller. (And guess what ...we only play these two in half the matches).

It might help if the fans supported the team instead of starting 750 attention seeking posts on here. Just a thought.

Get in a right back and a central midfielder. Sell Olofinjana and Sonko to offset the cost.

The Fans have supported the team and as this is a forum for debate then I would suggest it is the proper vehicle to use.

Stafford I don't think anybody can deny the support the team has had all season can they? Totally agree but some of the posts on here are just stupid. Attention seekers paradise on here. Sorry Mumf this is probably a fair debate. Just pissed off with all the doom mungers. What did people expect this season.

Tony Pulis to show some nous, imagination and buy some quality players back in the close season who would make an immediate impact on the team.

by convincing pulis that it is okay to set out to attack away from home, and stick to it, i would rather see us go for it and lose than capitulate like we did again last night.
the week in dubai did us no favours whatsoever did it.

What did people expect this season. i expected us to compete, to battle to have a go tp does not set up the team away from home to do these things at home to an extent he does i dont know how brom played but id rather lose 5-0 competing but 2nd best than a close defeat where we defend for 90 minutes if you had been with me and my mates last night, for all the moaning we did on the way home we were devastated i think we earned our right to have a moan

Well we can get rid of clueless for a start and bring in a young, fresh, forward thinking manager like mike newell or sean o'driscoll and then build for the future.

We can start by picking players who can play football and not just run around...Cresswell, Delap and Amdy Faye need dropping IMO.....

He dropped a few bollocks at the Reebok and at Ewood but those aside, he's been immense.

we would give ourselves a great chance of getting out of this mess if we played our best players, fuller should have started last night, as should griffin or davies at right back. pugh deserves his place in centre mid instead of the useless lump that is faye! lawrence should be playing now instead of warming the bench! its basic bloody managers skills, pulis should be seeing this, but he loves his hard workers. well unless he gets his head out the sand we will go down simple as.

Just win on Saturady and we are back on track.
No more holidays in the sun for a while, aaarrdd work from now on in!!!!

I am sorry to say that I don't think that there is no way out of this, we will be relegated. But that's just my opinion.
We really needed 3 points against Spurs. I can't see us getting more than 20 points from 15 games, simple as that and I don't think it will be enough. To assist our chances of bouncing back into the prem at the first try, we need a new manager rather than the dinosaur we have got now who only knows one way to play - and that's an ugly route one way at that. It will be difficult to find one though with Stoke's new reputation.
Ironically, with the addition of two good full backs, I believe we had the personnel to stay up with the right system and management. We certainly had the backing from the chairman. Etherington is a great signing and working in tandem with Lawrence could be very effective in providing Kitson, Fuller and Beattie with quality service.
Unfortunately, our idiot of a manager doesn't see this and tries to play Cresswell in the Mama role whilst leaving our record signing rotting on the bench. It is no surprise that we have not won a single game since Mama was out as he stubbornly refuses to play a different system to the one which is obviously not working in the prem.
I hope I am wrong, I have waited all my life for stoke in the prem. The truth is, what I am seeing now has not been worth the wait.

Cannot disagree with the last post. Some of Stokes play and tactics at times have been woeful and embarassing. The gulf in teams is enormous but I could not watch this standard of football season after season.

chessyoork...well said.
stafford...wake up ffs and look at what is happening and why we are struggling it aint because fans at the games are not shouting loud enough because we do.Or can't you be critical of Pulis or anything Red n White?
Pray to god like we all do that we win saturday then the mood changes, football fans are so fickle but if the manager does not change personel or tactics we will certainly go down..do you want that or him at least change it to give us a chance of staying up?

I suspect we're going to be close to going down but then I think the same can be said for five, maybe six teams this year. It's a very weird league.
The real key is that to avoid being one of the teams that does go down, we need to take every point available and that means each game is a cup final.
As disappointing as Spurs was (and it's disappointing largely because Pulis sometimes doesn't give us the best chance of winning) I think the key is in wiping the slate clean and going at Citeh like there's no tomorrow.
There are a lot of positives if you look for them (best run-in, Ethers, Beattie, Fuller to come back fully, lots of other teams seemingly in self-destruct, Shawcross) and other than that we just have to enjoy it. We might not be back here for another couple of decades and just think of the mental if/when we stay up...

I will be shouting my nuts off on Saturday for a win and come lunchtime after a pint at the Trentham, I will be tipping stoke for a 3-0 win! Hope springs eternal every Saturday, but I just want TP to trust the players he has at his disposal and not try to ram them into his sometimes effective, but mostly negative system.

We have some very decent players fit and ready but and its a big BUT..Will he play them in a 4 4 2 with two wingers two strikers on at the SAME FUCKIN TIME and play further up the pitch and tell Higgy stop getting the ball and twatting it to the moon and back.Just play abit down the flanks and into Fullers feet get there centre-backs turning to face there goal for a change ffs!

To love means loving the unlovable. To forgive means pardoning the unpardonable. Faith means believing the unbelievable. Hope means hoping when everything seems hopeless." - G.K. Chesterton
Lets show our team some love, forgive our manager for his errors, believe that we can stay up and hope to fuck that we start finding a way to win a game away from the Brit.

buy a left back and a right back.
play higgy and shawcross in the middle of defence
buy a central midfield, play ethers, new midfielder, delap (for hsi throws) and lawrence
fuller and beatie up front with kitson comign on in second half to add a different dimension (or start with kitson and beatie and bring fuller on (I have always thought he plays best as an impact player))
and most of all for pulis to use the word ATTACK , with the prefix wait for them to.... in his prematch talks
