We all knew this would be a hard year. Our primary aim this season was not to make dicks of ourselves and do a Derby. Mission achieved!
Everyone on here said they'd be happy if we could go into the last 2 games with something to play for. 15 games to go and we're there - one win away from safety. If we're still in the same position at that point as now then we should be reasonably happy.
Now we lost last night but we didn't get thumped. From 25 mins onwards although we didn't create much we tightened up, and dug in. Not pretty but we prevented going down 4,5,6 or more which Spurs are capable of doing with the players they've got.
Pulis - He got us here and he at least deserves some support. He's here to stay as Coates likes and trusts him, so moaning about him will only bring the club down and give us a reputation as whinging fans. We've got to get behind him and give him full support this year.
Cresswell - all this hysteria regarding Cresswell is mad. He's an honest pro who puts in his best, which is possibly not true of all our players at times. It's Pulis to blame for picking him and not him. That and his reported wage which we don't know how true it is. He doesn't let you down with anything other than his ability. His attitude is spot on, and he's a hell of a lot better than a lot of what we've had in the past. That said I don't think he is Premiership quality.
So reel your necks in. Pulis is doing the best he can making what he thinks are the best decisions even if we don't agree with them - and a lot I don't - especially the negative away tactics. But he's here to stay....
and an honest pro shouldn't be singled out becuase he's pick in preference to your favourite player by the manager.
Now, some positive away tactics please Mr Pulis

I was with you until I got to the bit about Cresswell
An 'honest pro' in the sense that you refer, should be playing in League 2 not the Premiership

but unfortunately stokemark, he is playing for us! and he works his bag off for us to boot. which is more than a lot of players we've had.
get off his back FFS.

Not on Cressies back, I for one believe he would be a decent squad player. One thing he is not is a first choice prem striker.
After your original post telling us how to back TP and stop criticising, strange that you then go on to criticise his playing of Cressie and his style of play away from home.
I don't think most fans blame Cressie, it is just the most blatant sign of our managers failings. His persistance in playing the most dire one dimensional style of football (especially away from home) and his frustrating refusal to play our best players is fast pushing me towards the more anti TP fans. That said, I believe that to change our manager mid season would be suicide.
Should the worst occur though, it may be time for a change of direction. Not due to going down (theres no shame in that), but due to our managers all to obvious failings, relatively poor transfers signed and mainly his stubborn refusal to admit to any of his own mistakes.

no i didn't. due to me currently being a university student, a hundred odd quid is not really accessible to me at the moment! but from what i have read, i imagine that it was a typical cresswell performance, working harder than anyone on the pitch, but severely lacking in premiership quality.
i don't want to get into an argument, because i have had time to cool down since last night, and i agree that i don't think he should be in the starting 11 when we have better quality players on the bench. but i can't stand all this getting on cresswell's back, cos he works damn hard for us everytime he puts on a stoke shirt, and it really isn't his fault that he gets picked.
and last night, it seemed like it was a combination of our bad defending and good creative attacking play from tottenham that lost us the game. i wonder, had we gone through the first 25 minutes without conceding, then beattie nicks that goal, and we had gone on to win 1-0, would everyone get on cressie's back then?

Most sense I've read on here all day Eddy, you are bang on the money in my opinion.
Stokemark, as for your "I went last night, did you?" comment, what the fuck does that have to do with anything? It's a cheap shot and you know it.

stateside. I think its bit easier to be gutted by the performance when you've travelled so far and spent so much for the team to be done in 25 mins by poor defending. He's got a point, just not explained it well. Doesn't make you less of a supporter cause your in usa.

Trust me, it is no easier to take when you can't go to the game. If anything, you feel even worse.

All seems to make sense to me, Pulis should certainly stay, for the rest of the season at least. Cresswell is a good servant of the club, he does his best, it's not good enough, but that's something TP should pick up on and play someone who is, say kitson as a striker or Lawrence/Etherington on the flanks. Not Cressa's fault.
TP needs to learn and fast if we are to stay up. Saturday is a must win imo.

Cresswell wasn't the one who lost his marker 3 times to concede 3 soft goals.
He has limited ability as a striker but he doesn't deserve to be scapegoat for Spurs...

Yes! Cresswell works hard.
Yes! Cresswell is not Premier League quality.
No! Cresswell wasn't at fault for any of Tottenhams goals.
Yes! Cresswell is always the scapegoat (unfortunately).
Anyway I'm still hopeful of survival. We can beat anyone at home we just need to sort out our away form as we're like two different teams.

Lets face it. Sidibe isn't playing so someone has to be picked on.
But, a lot of people have now realised how good and how important our non scoring striker is.
Nobody has yet been able to replace Cresswell so perhaps in time he will be appreciated for what he does and not what he doesn't do well.
Cresswell for right-back!

Now we lost last night but we didn't get thumped. That's a matter of opinion and what you consider being "thumped" is.

I'd say it was a thumping. And it only took 25 minutes.

Jeez...not another reality check post!..We got blown away in the first 25 mins making the rest of the game irrelevant..much easier to tighten up and dig in when the opposition have already won the game...as for Spurs blowing teams away and scoring 5 or 6....the most they had mustered at home all season in one game is 2....Even we have bettered that. I have just banged my head against the wall as punishment for reading another reality check aren't spurs world beaters and we should feel happy we only lost 3-1.........bang bang bang!
