I just can’t see where we will get another 20 points to survive. We’ve managed just 21 from 23 games so far so another 20 from the remaining 15 seems impossible. Pulis has blown the best part of £30m and we still look like a championship side (which is what where we seem to be heading). His insistence on continually picking players that are out of form, out of their depth, out of position or just not good enough when we have better options is going to cost us our place in the premier league. No win since November 22nd only 3 points away from home all season and 11 matches without a win all adds up to a doomed side heading in only one direction and some people on here still insist he's a great manager

Oh dear god! Some people just can’t accept that Pulis isn’t doing things quite right. “Got us automatic promotion LAST SEASON to the premier league” of course he did with one of the lowest points tally’s needed ever and we just scraped it. “Won nearly every home game LAST YEAR” Did he? Have I missed something? “Got class players like Beattie and Etherington” how long do you think they’ll stay at Stoke if Pulis takes us down? “Can cope with People wrongly criticising him like YOU” WRONGLY you must be a bigger fool than your post implies if you think the criticism isn’t justified

I don't think anybody's saying that criticism of Pulis isn't justified (1100 people trying to view this board at half time!) but he isn't going to listen so you're wasting your time and raising your blood pressure!

It's his approach to away games which has been the biggest let down, we can't cope with the big pitches away from home, we're to slow and teams pick us apart and use the width of the pitch to exploit us, the answer to this problem, I believe, is a 5 man midfield, It's the only way I feel we'll pick up any points,.... yes, we play with a deep striker (mama/Cresswell), but they're a strikers, not a proper midfielder players, we should have tried a new formation away from home weeks ago.

Spiderman, why don't you back your clubs manager? Maybe because I think he’s not quite up to the job, I’m not the only one either.

Every loss is considered an abssolute fuck up!
But then every win is considered a masterclass...
Maybe its just a hard league chaps?

Serpico your spot on with that mate because all Lennon and Bentley did all night was hug the touchline which stretched us and we couldnt cope with their movement in the 1st half.

It is a hard league and this season was always going to be a struggle, but we give ourselves little chance when we set up as we did last night. My feelings are that I'm behind the manager and the team (nowt gay like) and we're still in with a real chance of getting out of this, but massively frustrated with the team picked, the money pissed away in the summer and tactics away from home.

skidog, anybody would think we were bottom of the league with just 5 or 6 points!
we still have a great chance of staying up, so why not back the man?

Yes, but don't take that as meaning I think he should go, Pulis clearly has some infuriating flaws, but I still think he'll keep us up, he did hint last night that he was going to look at changing our approach to away games, hopefully this means he will give the 4-5-1 option a go, in virtually every away game this season we've been over run in midfield, and it shouldn't have taken him this long to break from his religion of 4-4-1-1, for the next away game I want to see this (below), with the two wide men getting forward with fuller when they can, I'm not saying this is going to work, but neither is stubbornly carrying on with the current approach. ------------------------------------Sorro------------------------------------- Griffin------------------AbdFaye----------S'cross--------------------Higgy -----------------------------------AmFaye------------------------------------ -------------------Delap--------------------------Whelen-------------------- Lawrence-------------------------------------------------------Etherington --------------------------------Fuller (Or beattie)---------------------------

I get sick of the wankers who've used the Oatcake over the last 12 months who won't have bad word said against 'the inept one'. I actually think the side is good enough to stay up but it's 'the inept one's tactics away from home that 'will' have cost us our place in the Premier league! Totally agree Spidey

Yeh, but it wasn't really, it was a 4-4-1-1, with Cresswell playing the Mama role, the extra midfielder should have been in front of our defense marshaling the back line and breaking play up, not running around like a headless chicken up front, Cresswell isn't a proper midfielder, he'll work his pills off but he won't give you what a proper midfielder offers. Spurs' midfield were given far too much space last night, because our midfeild is to slow on the bigger pitches, we can't play our usual 'in their faces' game, they just pass it around us and exploit the width of the pitch, last night we needed to flood the midfield and not allow them space, we needed a extra body in the middle of the pitch, and then play for set pieces when going forward.

You slate Pulis for "blowing 30 million"
Beattie, Etherington, Faye and Sorensen have been absolute bargains.
Sunderland spent near to 50m last year and only just stayed up, whilst man city and spurs have spent incredible amounts, finding themselves only 3 points ahead of us.
Overall, TP has worked wonders at stoke and you have said before you think he deserves to be in charge this year. Therefore judge him at the end of the season.
The club needs our support at this critical time and consistent moaning every time we lose a match is not constructive nor helping.
We've already accumulated a very respectable amount of points this season; our home form is one of the best in the league and we have competed with some of europe's best sides. Everyone knows TP has his faults, but they are heavily outweighed by his strengths.
The club has experienced major success in a very short period of time. It seems many fans expectations are unrealistic, expecting us to progress even further before we have reached any sort of stability.

Is Tone beyond criticism? I for one don't think he is!
I will always support my team and always stand my corner against non-Stokies who have a go but I do think it's about time we got real.
Tone is not getting the best out of the players at his disposal. Whether this is down to tactics, formation, the players he picks, the players he won't pick, the truth is, if he doesn't do something different soon, we'll be stranded at the bottom with no hope of recovery.
Will people still be defending him then?
