Don't often post on here but my frustration has been building over the last 2 months now n it needs to be released.
I look at our situation and I can't help but think of what a waster TP is. I know his grit and grind got us promoted and for that I am grateful. Yet with the backing of a multi-millionaire, hell bent on keeping his beloved club in the Prem, Pulis has blown his money on a crock of shite to be frank.
The likes of Olofinjana, Kitson, Sonko and Griffin, however accessible and committed, are solid Championship players. The difference between us and Hull is clear. Whilst Brown is tactically inept imo, his transfer moves, acquiring the likes of Geovanni and Bullard to name but a few have meant that his side. when attacking, have the pace and ability to cause problems. It is my view that our main problem is that our team lacks genuine pace and creativity. Whilst Ethers and Beattie are a step in the right direction, we desperately need more.
It is perfectly acceptable to play cautious football away from home, a la the first half last night, but when you don't have any players capable of causing problems on the break, the effect is to put increasing pressure on your defence and to create the atmosphere of if and not when the opposition will score.
I for one am sick of this seige mentality and this idea that we should be grateful for where we are. Pulis is feeding us bullshit to protect himself. With the money that we have access to there is no reason why we can't sign the likes of Fred, play more attractive football and gain some real confidence.
Sort it out Tone!!!
Rant over! Lol.

Oli, Kits, Davies, Sonko, Soares, Tonge………..the list goes on.
So many players signed, so many millions spent by a manager that doesn’t rate them good enough to play.
Cresswell is above them all.
Go figure.

Soares and Tonge are decent but he doesn't use them. They are creative players at least. But if you combine the money spent on Kits, Oli and Sonko you have just under 10 mill. Enough for two quality players.

I’m not so much criticising the players mate, I’m criticising the fact he’s spent millions on players which he doesn’t rate above Creswell (Kits, Tonge and Soares notably).
Why?

You're asking the question I think more and more people seem to be asking, Whydelilah. Problem is no-one can work it out!

The issue of pace is a really important one in this division and your post is bang on, Brown has tried to address the issue in terms of creativity much better than we have but TP does not seem to place a high value on creativity and that could cost us dear

Yeah, i agree. Also, our "creative players," such as Ric (suspended until last night I know), Lennie, Tonge and Soares are not being used. Can you imagine a team with those four, Beattie and Ethers in it. Thats what we need. But it is a waste of money.

Bullard hasnt even played for Hull yet!
And where has Geovanni been hiding the last 8-9 games?

Bullard is better than Whelan and Oli mate, thats clear to see. As for Geovanni I dont know if he is injured but he won them so many points in the first few weeks. Hull have pace, we don't. Hull aren't in the relegation zone and we are. Its simple.

How much have we spent combined on Davies, Tonge, Soares, Kits, Sonko and Olu? It’s scary when you think about it.
Does Pulis rate any of them as Prem standard or does he rate any of them good enough to be first team?
Wasted money if they don’t play. He’d play 11 Cresswell’s if he could.

hit the nail on the head there
but we were all pleading on here for him to address the lack of pace last summer!
he hasn't
we need pace in the full back positions, pace in centre mid, and another pacy wide player
trouble is he gets big muscular players!
our lads got pummelled last night by lennon, bentley, modric, and even that left back who kept tearing upfield
they're all 5 ft nothings, but they're quick, and they're good.
redknapp has us well sussed

exactly, no pace, lack of guile in midfield. surely someone with the slightest inkling of class can be brought in before the window closes.

WelshStokie...good post mate. I don't believe Pulis is a waster though. You'll recall that he signed proper Prem quality players like Kitson (still decent in the right team / style of play), Amdy, Abdy, Higgy early in the transfer window in August, but signed Tonge, Soares and Sonko later on in the last seconds.
This is because he needed enough bodies in the squad in case of a rash of injuries, and Prem quality subs are not cheap! Soares and Sonko are NOT good enough. Tonge is a nice player but not enough pace...even though I think he's probably better than Whelan who for me is also just not good enough.
Pulis knows what he wants but sometimes that just isn't available. The one worry I do have is that in this window he has signed Beattie & Ethers early on, but it's gone quiet since then and we are into the last 7 days. Thus the concern is that we won't get any class players in before the end, without wanting to pay well over the odds.

I feel centre midfield is a massive problem for us, Weve signed Etherington who looks promising but on the other side we have Delap whos got no pace and if it wasnt for his throws probably wouldnt be in the side. In the center Whelan supposed to be the ball player who blows hot and cold (More cold than hot) then we have Faye who the game just passed by last night. Not exactly an inspiring midfield, The trouble is you look to the bench and apart from Lawrence coming on for Delap there no decent centre midfielders, This is where Jimmy bullard would have filled a massive gap for us and i feel a big missed opportunity by our manager to actually put some quality in the middle of the field.

makes you wonder what coates is really thinking now about how his money has been spent, when was the last time stoke won a game? and the way we were dumped out of the cup at hartlepool makes you wonder how TP is still in the job I think coates needs to put some pressure on.
the defence were shite last night so does it mean another batch of solid, work aaaaaaAAAAAAAAAaaaarrrrrrddddd players arriving before the window shuts?
just read in the sentnull that some stoke fans were leaving after the third goal which makes makes you want to weep,I just hope he reads this and sorts himself out.
The earlier post about 5 ft nothings tormenting us last night was spot on which is a concern on saturday when wright-phillips and robhinio come to town
TP has never managed a free scoring side,Dave kemp used to coach wimbledon with kinnear and gould, need we say more.

Watched it on internet streaming and, tbh, we were slaughtered primarily in midfield where we were non-existant for much of the game. When we did play through our midfield: A) we held possession for longer periods
and
B) We looked more threatening.
We need to stop this long ball play right now and start playing through the midfield. Its no good saying we are playing to our strengths by playing hoof ball because where are the points coming from with those tactics. Central to this is we need a couple more creative midfield players. Don't blame the defence for last nights debacle because they were the victims of a very poor midfield imo.
With Bolton v Spurs and Middlesboro v blackburn this satdee a win against Man city is essential or we could start falling behind the other strugglers
