So pulis comes on the radio after the game and says Abdy had the flu but wanted to play and then went on to say Abdy was throwing up at half time.
Well what manager would put a player with flu on the pitch in the first place - joking aside about Abdy - "yes you have flu Abdy but go outside in the cold and damp and run around for 90 mins - im sure you'll be ok"
No-one in their right mind would do that - hes bound to get worse for that time out on the pitch if he does have "proper"flu - and does it now mean that we wont have him for Saturday? Shouldnt he have been in bed dosed up with whatever and getting fit for saturday?
And Pulis then says "the lad wanted to play", well im sure he did but as manager you have to say no! Why did he even travel with the squad if he had flu? Doesnt he know the whole squad will have it if hes been sat on a coach with them for hours coughing and sneezing!
A fit Sonko might be most peoples idea of a nightmare waiting to happen - but so was an unfit Abdy! and I dread to think what a flu'd up Cressy would be like!
Pulis then says "Wilko got an early knock"- but was allowed to play on until half time (history repeating itself re Griffs injury I think) So why didnt he get taken off earlier? Playing with an injury may have made any time out even longer!
So, we had an injured right back and an ill centre back on the pitch for the first 45 minutes! Why???
At least one of those strange half time subs could have been avoided - IF Pulis had done made better descisions.
(Dont play Abdy, get Wilko off when he picks up the injury!)
But thats the problem isnt it - Pulis is making bad descisions - poor tactics, poor team selection, poor substitutions, favourite players who seem immune from being dropped, and now obviously listening to what his players want rather than making the tough descisions himself.
As much as I dont like Pulis football (not talking about the man, have met him in a hotel some time ago - no, not like that ;D - and had a long talk over drinks with him and he seems to be a nice regular and down to earth guy) I cant see the benefit of changing horses midstream.
(I really cant see him out of here until next christmas at the earliest and that only if we are back in the championship and adrift of the front runners).
All I can hope for is that HE starts working harder and adapting his one dimensional tactics to give us a chance away from home.
Most managers would hope that they can create a fortress at home but its away from home that the manager really earns his money - time to start earning your corn Mr Pulis!
Sorry, Rant over!!!
