I think Simmo is wank to be fair, Carlo Nash was better than him last year, and he simply can't command his area, which isn't good enough at this level. Sorro fills me full of confidence when we concede a corner and is a very good keeper. Yea a special mention to Carlo Nash. That save he made against Bristol City was it? One of the best saves I've seen by a Stoke Keeper. Sorensen is certainly the best keeper I've seen at Stoke in my time of going. Although occasionally he punches when he catches he doesn't shy away and his command over the defence is world class.

Seen some keepers at stoke over my time.........
Foxy was the first.......how did he find the time to do warming up exercises on the edge of the 18yrd box during the game??? "Englands No 1 Englands Englands No1"
Stuart Roberts.......young hopeful....did well in his couple of games
Scott Barratt......i remember standing in the away end with the Newcastle fans when he miss kicked a goal kick and he was swearing his head off!
Barry Siddle........I was sitting in the stand above the spurs fans (i think) when he totally missed his clearence with his foot and somebody like archibald put it in!
Gordan Marshall........in the oatcake one week a picture of somebody fishing and asking Marshall if he'd caught anything!!!
Gavin Ward......did he have a scrap with a wigan or Bristol City fan??
Hans Segars.......i remember standing in the WBA away end freezing cold watching him! Terrible keeper!!

For me, Mark Crossley is still the best keeper we've had down here in recent years. His contribution in keeping us up that season is immeasurable! Crossley hands down for keeping us up. Bollocks. Crossley weren't that good!

Had a look at that Leigh Roose article. The man sounds like an absolute legend. The following taken from Wikipedia (sorry admin). 'On 23 April 1910, Roose, by then a very famous former Stoke player, guested - along with Herbert Chapman - for Port Vale in a match against Stoke Reserves that would decide the winner of the North Staffordshire and District League. Roose not only insisted on playing against his former club while wearing his old Stoke City shirt, but aroused the ire of the 7,000 strong crowd with his breathtaking play. He "saved every shot with such arrogant ease that the furious crowd spilled onto the field, only the brave intervention of the local constabulary saving him from a ducking in the River Trent." In the course of the same fracas, Stoke's chairman, the Reverend A.E. Hurst, ran on to the pitch to appeal for calm and was knocked out by one of his own forwards. The result was appealed to the Staffordshire FA, which declared the championship void, and Stoke's ground was closed for the first fortnight of the 1910–11 season. Roose is reported to have said, in his own defence, that he had believed the game to be a friendly and had not realised a championship was at stake.'

Went school at Wooly Grammar when John Farmer was discovered there by Stoke. At that time Wooly Grammar was a rugby playing school but Farmer played basketball. Farmer would have gone on to be a great but lost his confidence because apparently Maurice Setters didn't like him and wanted Waddo to buy Banksie which he did. But Banksie was our greatest ever. Farmer got a second chance when Banksie had his accident but couldn't produce his previous form so Waddo plunged for Shilton breaking the world record for a goalie at £350,000. However Shilton never reached his full potential until he became England 1st choice when playing for Southampton.

brought up on Peter Fox and Scott Barrett, old Foxy was two inches too small yet a cracking keeper, could have been an England international I think if it wasn't for Shilton. Sorro certainly is made of the right stuff, would have liked to see if Ben Foster could have fullfilled his potential at stoke. But Tommy is alright in my book, good keeper

Sorro's class.
But come on,
Banks = best goal keeper we have had, and will ever have.

We have had some very good goalkeepers at Stoke City.
Banks, Shilton, Fox even John Farmer.
Tommy was brilliant at Chelsea last week, pulled off some brilliant saves.

I'd forgotten about Gavin Ward, he twatted 2 Bristol Rovers idiots who foolishly ran on to remonstrate with him. Ward was absolutely ripped, those 2 west country retards never stood a chance!

Sorensen is a good premier league keeper and it's a shame that we've got him relatively late on in his career. That said, at 32 he's got a fair bit to go yet.

Grew up with Peter Fox - couldn't believe Gary Bailey was ahead of him in the England pecking order at the time (The Shit!!). Does anyone else recall an outstanding double save at Bradford (I think) in 90/91 - remember it clearly just in front of me standing in the away end. Agree, v impressed by Sorenson - shot stopping (Ronaldo excepted) , catching, command of his area, marshals defence and generally inspires confidence - quality!!! (No comparison vs Carson, as others have stated)

Banks Shilton Fox
Beyond that Crossley was brilliant as was Carlo Nash last year. And lets not forget Birkir Kristinsson.
We've certainly had some great keepers

Definitely the best I've seen (in the post-Muggleton era), with Crossley a close second. I always particularly liked Birkir Kristinsson as well. bloody hell i'd forgotten about him, was on loan if im correct? Remember playing Fail with Nailor one on one doing fancy cocky stepovers and this bloke came running out got the ball and went straight through him ;D yeh, he was a good keeper.

Banksy (the original before that vandal nicked his moniker) and Foxy (you can't argue with a moustache like that...and he came over and said hello to me at the Vic once just before the start of the second half when i was having a tantrum in the family enclosure )

We've had quite a few good keepers some of them Internationals. Harry Gregg, Tommy Younger, Joe Corrigan, Lawrie Leslie, The greatest Gordon Banks, Peter Shilton, Bruce Grobbelaar to name a few. I also think Dennis Herod, Bill Robertson, Wilf Hall, Jimmy O'Neil, Peter Fox and Ronnie Sinclairare also worthy of mention Tommy Younger!! Possibly worse than Marshall when he played for us. Bobby Irvine was another international that played for us, he was'nt much cop either.

I am amazed no-one has mentioned Barry Sodall!
Just old enough to remember Banks - by far the best. Fox has to be my favourite also liked de Goey from Britannia era. Sorensen is best of recent crop and to me was our best summer signing.
Shame about Mark Harrison - looked very good.

Crossley hands down for keeping us up. Bollocks. Crossley weren't that good! Oh yes he was. World class save after world class save. His save at Coventry is the best save I've ever seen in the flesh. Was gutted when he signed for Fulham.
