Look at our last 4 games.
Man united, scored 83rd minute.
West Ham 83rd minute
Liverpool Gerrard very nearly scored late into the game
Chelsea scored 2 in the las 6 minutes
Is this something to worry about.
I'm not dissing the players one bit, because I know against Chelsea we defended like heroes, against man U and west ham we were down to 10 men. But all the goals seem to be from a slight lapse of concentrations
We were known as a team who fought until the very last second, (Villa, Newcastle games seem to remember) it just seems like this may have gone from out system? I don't just querying other peoples thoughts on the matter

To quote Tone, against Chelsea and ManUre I reckon it's about 'that extra bit of quality' - we're good enough to close them out for 80+ minutes but against the very top teams, even playing out of our boots, we can't keep it up for the full 90 (or 94 even) because they're just too much better than us. Wet Sham was a freak game so I'm not counting that but what worried me was not being able to close out Hull or Blackburn. We can't afford to slip back into doing that or we're dead.

I'm defintly not worried we are going down, In all honestly I think we will finish 15th or 16th. We have got a cracking set of home games remaining where we can fight our way through them and we won't need to be playing out of our skins for 90minutes!

It didn't really help that 2 subs came on early in the 1st half. I think that could have something to do with it too.

It is a worrying trend but i have to agree woth the points that mermaidsal made. Its against the 'lesser' teams we need to close the game out, against the bigger teams just to be competeing for up to 90 minutes is a bonus.

Best way to close a game down is by scoring a clincher. This season we haven't won by more than one.

It would help if we spent more time in the opposition half of the pitch.
Don't know if Chelsea was us sitting back as usual or them causing us to defend so deep because of the pressure they were putting on us ?
What a game though, it looked like we were on for our first 3 points away from home for so much of the match. What a scalp that would have been.

I don't think we chose to sit back against Chelsea. We had to get behind the ball because we couldn't get it off them. I'd say the approach to Spurs will be the test to if we are a sititing back kind of team.
