Just thinking are we second from bottom and looking very likely for relegation because of our tatics or because we are just not good enough..I personnaly believe we are not good enough. The tatics Pulis plays are forced upon him because of this. But he must take a portion of the blame because he brought the players in the first place.I wont mention any names of the players but 6 mill has been wasted on poor/hopefull prem players to boost our squad at the start of the season because the targets we were initialy after wouldnt come.Beatie and Etherington are better buys and we need at least two more quality players to get out of this mire.Midfielder in the mould of Bullard(no way hes coming though)and another striker.Cresswell and Pericard must be sold preferbaly someone with pace. What do you reckon?

Pace will almost always bail you out in any sport, even if ability isn't there. Don't think u need to panic though matey, we've had a run of tough games and now we're set to have an October style run. UEFA cup next year!

Ive seen enough from Etherington and Beattie already to think that we are in for better times.

The run of games against the top sides coupled with injuries and a silly suspension have dragged us back down, however with the new signings and alot of encouragement gained from yesterday I think we will be picking some precious wins up very soon.

To be honest, i think it's a bit of both but i feel much more optimistic now we've got Etherington and Beattie in there which has sorted out our problems on the left wing and upfront.
With Etherington especially, he gives us another dimension to our play rather than a 'HOOF' upfront to our forwards as he can get past players which is what Cresswell, Tonge etc can't do! Also, with Etherington in there, i just hope that Higginbotham in particular will lay it on the floor to him instead of just thumping it upfield.
Anyway, I think that we could do with a quality, experienced attacking-minded central midfielder, at least one fullback, (preferably a right back) and possibly another back-up goalkeeper just in case, as well as shipping out a few fringe players such as Pericard etc.

The tactics have worked for other teams in the past and the better the players, the more effective the tactics are.
The longer you stay up the more likely it is that better players will be willing to join you. Eventually, if you get a run of few years in the top flight, like e.g Bolton, you can attract players like Anelka and Diouf.
If we stay up this year it will get that much easier.

Absolutely spot on, malvern, IMHO. If you look through the division, it's quite surprising how many teams have two, mainly solid, centre mids and the wide players allowed to push on, even the top teams. At the moment we can only attract the spoilers in there, the spoilers that can also play a bit cost a bit more. I think this is why Pulis likes Diao so much. He's good at breaking things up and can, on occasions, look pretty calm on the ball too.
