I think we'll finish with 40 points, which ought to be enough to keep us up. I think the minimum target will be around 35/36 this year, cos everyone's so close and there's no banker team (ala Derby) bumping up everyone else's totals.
There should surely be enough points in the fixtures ahead of us if we play to our potential, even with no further signings.

I counted 14 points at most. Now count up our points for our remaining games. Spurs v Stoke Stoke v Man City Sunderland v Stoke Stoke v Portsmouth Aston Villa v Stoke Stoke v Bolton Everton v Stoke Stoke v Middlesborough West Brom v Stoke Stoke v Newcastle Stoke v Blackburn Fulham v Stoke Stoke v West Ham Hull v Stoke Stoke v Wigan Arsenal v Stoke I counted up 29 points out of them. Sounds optimistic looking at it again. I reckon we should get at least 20 more points and I didn't give us one away win in that estimate. Twenty points would put us on 41 and I think that (by the skin of our teeth) will be enough

Not much hope for new signings Gunslinger? There's a thin line between failure and success. Remember Fulham last season? They had RELEGATION written all over them but managed to stay up. We can do the same and an inspirational signing (or two) could be of enormous help.

agreed gunslinger, but so many 6 pointers re sunderland, pompey brazil etc almost anything can happen Agree. I did som pessimistic calculation with few of the 6-pointers going in our favour. If we manage to win most of them then we will do a giant leap up the table.

offthewall - 'batter a few teams at home and maybe sneak a few points away' - this has not happened in the past 8 matches or so, so where's this new philosophy coming from?
To even sneak a few points away will require an adjustment of 'the Alamo' principle
Batter a few teams at home - that's a new one too, - we'll just be glad to beat a few, never mind batter 'em
