from yesterday. What happens to a team, any team, but in this case Stoke yesterday that decides to sit back and defend a lead. For 75-80 minutes Stoke defended normally, well normally for them in such a game with 8 defending and no midfield. Then, i suppose it was Pulis who decides lets put everybody behind the ball. and in 3 minutes 2 goals are scored. If, imo, he had just left the 3 that were playing "forward" to do their thing Chelsea still would have had to send more back to defend against another Delap style goal. I have never been a proponent of the sit back and defend the lead. Who knows, against the teams we have done that gainst, Chelsea, Everton, Middleborough, i just can see 5 extra points on the board for us right now. But who the hell am i to say such things, its just my opnion !!

Both goals came from down that left hand side didn't they ? .... If Higgy hadn't been forced off the pitch it might have been a different story, ... Pulis' decision to put cressie on the left, instead of bringing on a proper midfield player, might also have added to it ?, the goals came after the substitution didn't they ?
I haven't watched it again, can't stomach it yet, so am going off what I remember being on the radio, so I could be wrong.

Can't be too harsh on them, I mean we were minutes away from winning, we weren't likely to start adopting tactics that would leave us wide open to a counter attack, it's not easy, we could have gone there and attacked and ended up getting beat 6-0 like sunderland did. At least our goal difference didn't take a pummeling I think games against the top 4 are worthy of the tactics of yesterday, the problem I have is when we got to places where we should be having a real go, like wigan, and set up to defend for 90 minutes.

Being there I thought the team were desperately unlucky. They defended well and with two minutes left at Chelsea you are not going to play any other way.

Fuck me we defended a lead at Chelsea. I thought we'd put 4 upfront and put another 5 past them. pulis out

Fromafar, give it a rest mate. We're still hurting too much. Every player gave everything. The tactics suited them and it looked like being a glorious day. 4 minutes ruined everything. Not sitting back, it had nothing to do with sitting back. We never stopped running. The players were knackered - they just couldn't hang on.

I cant understand anyone who slates the team from yesterday...we were unlucky to concede them 2 goals and the lads gave there all and no1 shud be criticized especially as there was never 4 mins stoppage time to be added....Lets think about it eh and remember who we were playing and what they are worth and what a brilliant home record they have over the last few years....The team and Pulis were fabulous and should be commended for what they achieved and we should all be proud...The tactics for me were spot on as if you try to play an open game of footie against a team like Chelsea we wud have been turned over....

To be fair fromafar i didn't really think our tactics in the last 10 minutes were any different than the rest of the match. We played really deep the whole game and decided to let them have as many shots from 25+ yards as they liked. The last 10 minutes was no different and a combination of tiredness and just pure probability did for us in the end.
Nobody's fault it's just life. I know the yanks have to blame someone for everything so they can all get their lawyers out but you're looking for something that just isn't there ..... not for the 1st time.
