Why are there so many threads anticipating our demise just after we lose to recent Premier League champions and multi jillion pound Chelski? Did anyone really think at the beginning of the season that we'd be taking on the top four and beating them? We have two draws against Liverpool, a win against Arse-nal, we narrowly lost with 10 men to Manure at home and we were winning until two late goals saw us off yesterday.
I'm gutted about yesterdays result BUT we're in the Premier League and that makes me smile everytime I say it. We're not embarrasing ourselves by any means, we've attracted players like Ab Faye, Kitson, Etherington and Beattie to our club. I'm proud to be a Stokie whatever the result and I have a feeling that we might just stay up.
Go one Stoke!

As someone has posted down the board and I have raised again on my thread the loss of last minute goals is costing us.The season before we were promoted we failed to get into the play offs after a series of last minute goals.Pulis has not learned his lesson. It does not matter that it is Chelsea but to have no run the clock down tactics is madness. We have now conceded in the last minutes too many time.Just simply run it to the corner flag does not seem in our thoughts. There were 4 chances to do this in the last minutes yesterday. Each time we gave the ball away.Had we simply taken some pace out of the game by running the clock down we would have won 1-0.Chelsea or no Chelsea

In all fairness, people wouldn't have made such a big deal about it, but we were winning with 5 mins to go! Its understandable.

We need to keep hold of the ball more to run the clock down and like you said run it into the corners. For this reason I was suprised by Pulis' decision to take off Ethers. Ah well we gave a very good account of ourselves now we must move on and prepare for Man City, we are at home and can beat anyone at the Brit on our day.

Losing last minute goals via poor defending is the issue imo and its not just happened against Chelsea.

In the context of the game Stoke did really well yesterday. Once again the ref was particularly poor not because of outrageous mistakes but because it was clear early on that he was going to give us fuck all. And he did give us fuck all.
I thought we defended superbly for 88 mins and played better than a lot of people are giving us credit for given the quality of the opposition.

However frustrating (and costly to my bank account) ,as you point out, this is THE Premiership.
1)It is acknowledged that this is the best league in the world and Stoke are performing in it.
2)Our results against some of the top clubs (in Europe) were admirable.Despite our relative inequality,we gave them a run for their money. It seems to that we are therefore within touching distance of competing on equal terms with these big clubs-a tremendous achievement.

bloody hell- first of all great post mcscooby and well said. We lost to one of the best teams in the world. We have come so far in the past 12 months and some of the posts on here begger belief. I knew this would happen a lot of you were never happy last year despite it being one of the best in our history. We need to be together this season no matter what. We were never going set the world alight and finnish in the top half. We need get real and support the team get behind one of our most succesful managers ever and a chairman who has backed us.
In a difficult time for everyone we should be relishing this season. Im as frustrated as everyone else about yesterday but come on and try and be positive.

Even the MOTD pundits said we deserved more from the game.
We are getting noticed more favorably with every game.
It seems that we are our own worst critics.
Welcome to the Premiership, after all it is the place we always dreamt of reaching and we are there, get behind the lads as they will need picking up after yesterdays result. They felt the hurt as much as us fans did.
GOARN STOKE
