I'm enjoying the prem don't get me wrong, but already there are things I miss about lower league football, and I can't be the only stokie. My missus has openly said she preffered following wigan in the lower leagues, to the point where she barely goes a wigan game any more. She just no longer enjoys it, she misses the good old days of a few hundred same faces every wigan away game we went to down south.
Maybe its because its the first time I have ever seen stoke play at this level, and older stokies who were there during the glory years will see it differently, but its the little things that are different that I miss.
Being a bigger fish in a smaller pond, i quite liked that and the mentality that went with it. I liked that some grounds still had terracing, that tickets were cheaper, that we had 46 league games.
I miss midweek games, we have so few in the Prem I miss winning more games than we lost (most seasons) I miss some of the quaint old grounds I even miss that damn apache indian music they played when Wycombe had a corner.
Dont get me wrong I really am enjoying the prem, but only the upsides, not the downsides

The upside is, IF we go down, we could very well have another Promotion Party in May 2010. Every cloud has a silver lining.

have to agree with you there mate! so many things i miss about the football league..
watching the highlights on sunday morning before sundayleague game in the afternoon. no gloryhunters. less packed at half time and in the car park. not rushing for away tickets. same set of people around you every week (usually).
however, i would obviously prefer to be in the prem and there are sacrifices to being here. i have loved the season (mostly) so far and firmly beeive we'll be here for a while yet.

Could you see TJ climing a floodlight pylon in a prem ground without being banged up for 12 months and banned for life?

some times in the championship we had a mini midlands league, away games never seemed that far away and there was always plenty of banter with Wolves, Brum scum, Leicester........sheep shaggers

Looking ahead to each fixture thinking we can beat them , in saying that i never though we would beat Villa , Arsenal, Tottenham and get 2 points off Liverpool , on reflection i miss nothing about it at all.

I dont mean to be rude about Wigan Dave but if their own fans dont want to go (and judging by their support then there are quite a few) then what a sad state of affiars.
They have a cracking team at the moment too - real shame IMHO

They have a cracking team at the moment too - real shame IMHO yeah I know they do, she still supports them, she just says the cost isn't worth the enjoyment factor anymore, as the cost has gone up, and the enjoyment gone down (in her eyes)

Grounds with mad names like The McCain stadium, Moss Rose and Mill Moor. You would also never get players with mad names playing in the top flight - can't see the likes of Jermaine McSporran or James Brown or Michael Jackson cutting it at the top !
