I remember singing that in our Div 2 Championship year and how great it felt to be successfull In the past our absence from the top flight for 23 years and protracted stay in the 2nd Div has sent out the impression that we were not an ambitious club, possibly correct at the time, hence players probably followed clubs with more realistic chances of returning to the big time. Examples being Commons and Hendrie. Our rise up the football echelons has been meteoric really. From relegaion favourites in our last two years as a Championship side to getting promoted, holding our own, paying very competitive wages, signing players for big money and filling the ground every week. For the first time we are very much on the radar throughout the footballing World and can attract very decent players if not the very best. To me its unbelievable really. I know you could say that we should be in the top league after 23 years of trying and arguably should have done it much earlier but to do it now is an even greater achievement given the clear gulf in funding and class. When Pulis came back he said it was down to Coatsey being a top chairman and Stoke being a proper footballing City with great potential. What a shrewd man

Bang on, Swampy...it's all a bit hard to believe after years of dreaming. I was thinking the same the other day after the Liverpool game, finding it hard to comprehend that in our last two home games we had given both United and Liverpool a run for their money, and we will be going to Chelsea on Satdee thinking we can genuinely compete with them.
It seems about as realistic as your bunch of Tossers beating the Rednecks in the Ballbag Oatcake League ;D
