assuming we stay up
its normally a lot harder in the 2nd season where over achieving promoted sides struggle in thier second season having been found out etc
obviously we will strengthen but do you think that as we have been around the bottom albeit in a tight league fot most of the season we are sneaking through under the radar as opposed to hull who have taken all the plaudits for been in top 6 since august until that bubble burst
2 out of this seasons promoted sides will be odds on to go straight back down leaving us again in mid table obscuirity but very happy

i think one issue has always been how does a manager work out how the team rates against the other teams in the division.
first season its assumed the promoted teams are way below standard, so the manager works on systems and tactics that will give the team a chance of scraping points off anyone. (applies IMO to reading and wigans first season as much as ours). the problem has always been, how does a team rate, when a new crop of promoted teams come up. coppell IMO opened up too much last season and once the rot set in reading were to demoralised to stop it... maybe he thought they were better than they were given their first season.
on the other hand, 'arry managed to steadily improve pompey.. steadily opening up as better players came in. which is what TP has always said he's try to do "players will dictate tactics" etc
i guess we'll see which way it'll go if we stay up. but i definitely think we've got the right man for the job, he's always made all the right noises for me.

pulis stabilised us in the championship, keeping us up on the last day of the season then making us a good midtable team the next, granted its a different league but surely if he follows the same principals then he can't go wrong

i agree, We shyould be higher, with more points than we have. But I'm happy where we are, and think we stand a very god chance of staying up...with these 2 new signings and the other rumoured ones, we are starting to build a semi decent squad together and if we can attract a similar quality, and spend similar amounts of money next summe,r then of course we can turn into a Bolton, portsmouth, Fullham etc

I am very impressed by the look our squad is beginning to have, I think if we stay up this year we can push on next year and do alright.
