After reading threads about songs being sung to fast, I thought I would apply a little science.
It was wierd when I sat in the John Smiths for the Derby game and got "hit" by the echo of Delilah.
I actually put it down to the speed of sound and the distance between Block 19 ( getting the blame ) and those at the end of the Seddon Stand / South Stand ?
Surely that would equate to an approx delay of half a second and would be very difficult to compensate for ?

yes but it wouldn't be as slow as 2 seconds. it probarbly wouldn't even be as long as 0.01 of a second.

0.33 - 0.50 secs I reckon yea, might have a slight effect but I think Block 19 sing it even faster than the rest of the boothen, and I can tell that from the Seddon.

it would be half a second behind south stand would finish if started in the boothen. the problem i think is that not only do you get the half a second delay but block 19 are that passionate about being loud that they run away with the song too. hence the 2 second problem.
it will never happen but it could do with being started in seddon stand

the speed of sound is proportional to the square root of the ratio of the elastic modulus (stiffness) of the medium to its density

I used to stand at the back of block 19 a few seasons back and everyone finished before I did, don't think you can put that down to the speed of sound.

Are you then saying block 19 are 1.5 seconds too fast and if so : If the Seddon Stand started a song wouldn't the problem only be reduced by 0.25 seconds ?

Is it really 2 seconds. aaaaaaaaaa one a, aaaaaaaaaa two a ?
