Marsh, Pejic, Smith and Bloor were known as the Homegrown back four as they were all local lads. Were there any other collective names for them?

I would just loved to have seen them in action against the slimy scumbag that is Ronaldo. The lary bastard would have spent the afternoon screaming like a pig. These were hard men who played against and respected other hard men.

Opposition players often ended up in the paddock at the Vic. If you did that today you would get a 6 month ban.
Watch a re-run of the '72 game against Chelsea and you will see tackles from a number of Stoke players that would be x-rated today. And this was during a season when refs had made serious moves to stamp out serious foul play. What must it have been like beforehand?
Wilko's tackle on 'the world's greatest player' (what a joke) was nothing. Now think of Smithy kicking him up in the air before Pej chucked him in the paddock. Happy days!!

I have very happy memories of a game against Man City when Dennis Tueart tried his luck with Pej. He lost!!!! 75 ish sort of era? It was in the days when defenders could get away with murder. Pejic had been persistently pulling at Tuearts shirt all through the game, when finally enough was enough for Tueart, who, as Pejic pulled at his shirt for the umpteenth time, promptly stopped in full flow, took his shirt off and handed it to Pejic. Pejic looked at him like he was a prick and tossed the shirt away. Butler Street Paddock was pissing its self! Classic!
