Assuming Griffin & Diao are still carrying knocks I'd go with:-
Sorensen - Wilkinson Shawcross Faye Ab Higginbotham - Delap Whelan Faye Am Etherington - Beattie Kitson

Agree with those that think Delap will play. He'll start on the right, with Matt Etherington on the left. Lawrence will come on for Etherington, who is still building his fitness, and Delap will go to the left, as on Saturday. Delap should be in for his ability to break up play, and the ground he covers as well as his long throws.
Think he might go for Salif in for Glenn as well. Think Whelan's done well with a run in the side, but the squad is a lot stronger now with the new players and Liam and Kits back in, so with a game in the week he might mix it up a bit. Also, think Sal is less likely to give the ball away if we are defending deep. Just wonder if the surprise will be Cressie, who worked his knackers off on Sat, and actually did OK in the Mama role. This would give an extra one in front of midfield, and Kits is still coming back to fitness.
so,
Soro
Wilko Ryan Ab Faye Higgy
Rory Diao Am Faye Matty
Cressie
Beattie
This might frustrate Chelsea a bit, and the longer it goes goalless the more chance we have of getting something at a place we should get nowt.
ps. Probably best to disregard the above, as I was so comletely WRONG about Vincent, who I thought would do OK. There's a lot of people who know their football on here, but I refer you to just 3 of them.
Like Knowles, I thought he did OK when he came on against Fulham, but RAF, erm, well, hit the nail on the head. If Vince was ever going to produce, it was now, and sadly he didn't, which RAF saidwould be the case in no uncertain terms! FullerMagic was also right, but kinder, when he said Vince's injuries have left him a shadow of the player he was at Portsmouth.
You win some, you lose some!

Lenny & Ethers to start together? I do think some people on 'ere need to settle down, eh?! I know it's been an exciting couple of weeks, but you'll have exploded by the end of the month if this carries on! (And I reckon the older boys on 'ere might try to set a better example for the younger ones!) tommo wilko/griff* BIG-faye shawsy higgy rory wheelo/sali* lil-faye ethers kits beats * - if fit. subs: simmo sonko dicko wheelo (if sali plays)/pugh tonge lenny cresser Yer know it makes sense. ah

I think the team pretty much picks itself with the exception of two positions.
Beattie and Kits will start up top.
It doesn't appear that Lenny is back to anything like full fitness and even if he were, I can't see Pulis starting with both him AND Etherington away at Chelsea. So Rory WILL start on the right.
Amdy is in form and will start with either Diao or Whelan in the centre and in terms of the back four, well they are all nailed on apart from the right full back position.
So for me it's a question of who partners Amdy and who plays at right full back?
Diao or Whelan to partner Amdy? I don't think it's any coincidence that Amdy's game has improved DRAMATICALLY since he has had Whelan along side of him.
I'm not suggesting that it's Whelan himself, that has made the difference, but rather, that he has improved so much due to Diao NOT being there, or actually more to the point, that it is not a defensive midfielder per se that is partnering him.
I think that both Salif and Amdy look better when they don't have their mirror image as a partner in midfield.
In my humble opinion they don't work together as a partnership, and for this reason I would go with Whelan against Chelsea.
Having said that I would feel much more comfortable if somebody like Ledley was here to play that role.
Griffin or Wilko at right back?
If you'd had told me a few weeks ago that I would be on the Oatcake debating whether Andy Wilkinson should start away at Chelsea, I would have told you to go and have a lie down!
However here we are seemingly split down the middle on who is the right man for the job.
And to tell you the truth I just don't know.
Andy defensively has been excellent against Man U and Liverpool, BUT the fact can't be ignored that he has been sent off in one game and picked up a booking in the other.
Scolari is no mug, and he will have done his research on our players. It's difficult to know who will start on the left for Chelsea, but whoever it is, they will no doubt be skillful and experienced enough to (deliberately?) put Wilko in a position where he ends up making a wreckless challenge and we could easily find ourselves very quickly down to ten men.
Griff on the other hand is far more experienced, and probably wont find himself in such a position, but it has to be said for all his good performances at the Brit this season, he has REALLY struggled away from home and at times has looked a real liability.
It's a very tough one to call, and I won't be particularly bothered who gets the nod, that's not to say I wouldn't be delighted if neither start because Pulis has splashed the cash on a new full back in the meantime.

With the current set of players I would go for
GK... Sorensen
RB... Andy Wilkinson CB... Abdoulaye Faye CB... Ryan Shawcross LB... Danny Higginbotham
RM... Liam Lawrence CM... Amdy Faye CM... Rory Delap LM... Matthew Etherington
CF... Dave Kitson Cf... James Beattie
But I can see TP putting Rory at right midfield and Diao or Whelan in centre, with lawrence coming on as a sub until he is fitter.

You're the first person on this thread to suggest that mase, and it's an interesting call. If Diao isn't fit will he start Rory in the middle rather than Whelan and go with Cresswell on the right to break up play in front of Wilko or Griff?

Agreed with most of that on there, I cannot see TP changing much from the Liverpool match, bar, obviously Mr Beattie. I reckon:
Sorro
Wilko Shawcross Big Abdy (c) Higgy
Delap Whelan Amdy Matty Ethers
Kits Beatts
With Diao still not right and Liam on the road to recovery, you would imagine that TP may bring off Matty Ethers for Liam someone through the second half. Maybe Cressy for Kitson at some point too if Kits is still struggling for that last bit of fitness.

GK... Sorensen RB... Wilkinson CB... Abdoulaye Faye CB... Ryan Shawcross LB... Danny Higginbotham RM... Rory Delap CM... Amdy Faye CM... Glen Whelan LM... Matthew Etherington FW... Dave Kitson FW... James Beattie Was a close call between Whelan and Delap but I plumped for Whelan, I may change my mind very shortly though as we could well need those throws against Chelsea! EDIT - I have now changed it and put Lenny on the bench, he still aint fully fit so I would bring him off the bench in the 2nd half

For this one away game I'd go with 5 in midfield, surely it's time to give it a go ? ... with no away win all season we need to try something new.

Wilko------------------S'cross---------------AbFaye-----------------Higgy
----------------Delap-------------AmFaye-----------Whelen--------------
Lawrence------------------------------------------------------Etherington

Not a bad idea at all serps but I can't see TP going with it mate! I think he'll go with Sorro Wilko Higgy Faye Ryan Rory Whelan Amdy Faye Ethers BT Cress I can't see Kitson playing two games in a week and Diao is probably unlikely to start given his recent back injury. It's all starting to look a lot healthier though and when everyone is available it looks promising. Sorro Griff/new right back Higgy Ryan Faye Liam Rory New centre mid (Ledley?) Ethers BT Ric Looking good!!
