Is it a lot bigger than our pitch - looked it from our birds eye view

I thought that (the pitch not seeing my house) there looked a big space between the play and the opposite wing.. lawrence had a lot of space a few times especially in the 1st half

Lads, you should see the view on a clear, crisp, bright Spring afternoon when the sun is high in the sky.
I live in Cullercoats which is about 12-15 miles east of the stadium. Adjacent to that is Tynemouth. You can see Tynemouth Priory and the cranes at Wallsend.
Its magnificent.

I thought it must be big as well because Delap couldn't even get his throw-ins to the first post.

Good point Mark
Or perhaps Delap had a bicep injury?!!!
One thing is for sure, we didn't make the most of the size of pitch whereas Newcastle did. They kept possession very comfortably

A bloody monstrosity of a stadium. I was looking forward to the game, anticipating seeing something of an old times ground. Who designed the thing, Edmond Hillary? My mate counted the steps (coming down, not enough breath going up) and he made it 250. And to make it worse, it was so bloody far from the pitch, it was like watching a game of subuteo. Mind you, from what we COULD see perhaps it was for the best. Thought we played a terrible game. Actually, to be fair, I thought that Newcastle showed the difference in the two divisions. Although down to ten men for most of the game, they much better than us, and some of their wing play was great stuff to watch. I know we had to make team changes, but until Diao came on, we had no possession, and he was certainly something of a revelation. Unbtil he came onwe were trying to play the game to quickly. No movement off the ball, and so nine passes out of ten went to their player. I'm not going to be too harsh on the lads because whatever is said about Newcastle, they ARE a decent Premiership side. I wasn't disappointed at losing, but more at our performance. I expected to lose, as I felt we missed our chance last Saturday. WE played well, THEY were poor on Saturday. Seriously though I am much more interested in our league games, and look forward to the Preston game.

I don't understand why any newcastle fans would want a season ticket up there and have to walk up all those steps week in week out.... or are they sneaky bastards with escalators in the home onds of the ground??

Hasn't Pulis had our pitch reduced to the minimum allowed size because we haven't got any wingers?

That was my point..
Of course Pulis had our pitch narrowed because it's easier to defend
Conversley Newcastle's pitch looked wide and made for their wingers
Anyone got the dimensions/

Just what I thought! (didn't) Must be based on the area available - not that used for the pitch?
