I can't sleep at night, but I'm constantly tired. Take tonight for example, i was tired, so I came lay on the bed at 8pm...Still awake 6 half hours later. And I am tired
Any advice, anything I can buy over the counter?
Anyone suffered with this before?

I'm about the same at the moment myself. Only difference being that I never feel tired, even when I'm pissed. Tried everything but nothings worked. Must've had about 10 hours sleep in the past week.

Sleeping tablets haven't worked for me. Only thing that's worked in the past is a very mild anti-depressant but they scared the shit out of me after my then-girlfriend told me how I was through the night

There are several hypnotics available, but prior to prescribing any of these (which you will not be able to buy over the counter) your GP should ask about history of sleep pattern, etc, especially if you are getting sleep but disturbed, this could indicate things such as sleep apnoea. If you have continued trouble, your GP may suggest wearing an Actiwatch, which monitors your sleep, usually for 11 days. More importantly, often people think drinking will help. In the long term, this is absolutely the wrong thing to do, as it may get you to sleep but you will get disturbed, poor quality sleep. Good luck

Boots sell over the counter sleepers called Sleepeaze. They work for me but are only a short term fix. Lack of sleep at night is usually stress related so best going see your doctor mate. I was like that for a couple of years and eventually had to do something. Dr sorted it out.

Try this - half an hour before you go to bed warm up with some moderate aerobic exercise for 10 mins to get your muscles warm and flexible. Then spend 20 mins stretching your limbs, body (and even your face) in every direction. You'll feel your body relaxing as the tension gets stretched out of your muscles.
Then go to bed and concentrate on that area between the top of your lip and under your nose. While you're doing this just keep repeating to yourself (in your mind, not out loud) "relaxed, calm and happy". Concentrate on the meaning of these words.
It takes a lot of practice and willpower, but it will eventually work if you stick at it. You'll find things will improve a bit each night.
Bad sleeping patterns are usually the result of bad habits (eg going to bed and stewing on things instead of letting go). So it will take some time to replace the bad habits with good habbits.
Try it, but if you do then make sure you stick at it. You've got nothing to lose.
Good luck.
