On the assumption that Salif will automatically start when he is fully fit, who do you think will lose their place to accomodate him?
Various choices-
Eustace to sit on the bench Delap to sit on the bench Delap to move to right back, and allow Diao to partner Eustace
Also, we have Matteo (who lets not forget is our official captain) to come into the equation too
My preference would be to drop Eustace who seems to be getting worse every game. He has good ideas, but can rarely implement them (sadly). There was one point last night when the ball was about a yard away from him on the edge of the area and he just stood there- seemingly unaware that the ball was near him. For me, that is just a lack of concentration.
Don't get me wrong, I have been a big fan of Eustace, but I think he would benefit from a rest
Thoughts?

id rather delap on the wing, hes usually ineffective as is creswell stuck out on the wing, so why not shove cresweel up front and delap out wide, he's shit no matter where you put him, but at least creswell might do better
simmo wilko----cort----shawcross----griffin
lawrence----diao----pugh----delap
creswell----fuller

Looks good to me Banbury. Although, Griff at right back and Dicko left back. Zak scares me at full back to be honest.
Not quite sure how fit Diao is though at the moment- is he ready for a start just yet?

I agree that Eustace should be the first to be dropped - he was shocking last night. But I thought last night also confirmed that Pugh is best in a central midfield role. So, of the players we have at the moment, Diao and Pugh would be my centre midfield pairing. If Delap has a place in the side (for his long throws) then it would have to be at right back (where Southampton fans thought he was in his best position) - although, if fit, I'd still prefer Wilko.

The thought of Demar on the wing does excite me.
However, I really can't see him starting a game this season. There have been opportunities to start him already but TP (for whatever reason) doesn't seem to think he's ready.

I think his preferred four would be: Lawrence........Delap........Diao............Pugh I really think he bought Pugh for the left and will stick with him there. Then it's perm two of Diao, Delap, Eustace or Matteo for the middle (or a new arrival would be nice : .

Diao in Lawrence left midfield Delap right midfield, Pugh stays at leftback. Or Delap gets benched, Lawrence stays where he is and Pugh moves up to the left midfield spot with Griff, hopefully Dicko replacing him.

pugh and Salif in the middle unless we make a really quality signing but of those at the club that partnership looks the best.

Agree with ted65, Pugh is not at his best at left back! Diao and pugh a decent central midfield. Would also like to see Lawrence and Phillips as RM and LM. ;D

I just think Salif at his best can make players look good in this league, as he did with Russell so with Pugh who looks a much better footballer he could make him into one of the best central midfielders in the league, as I say of what we have it looks the best option at least we need to see it, if not then I guess we need someone in.

demar gets generally good reviews in the reserves, he must be due a start, how are we going to know what he is capable of unless we give him a run out in the first team. even if he is given 20-25 minutes in the 2nd half.
tis a mystery to be sure.
