No really ;D
Club taken a week into the window to get in players to make us better. I don't think any club could have done things much quicker.
Crying out for a winger and he's got Etherington in. I like him, he could be a good player for us if used correctly.
We needed another forward and he has got in better than what we currently are playing with. One thing is the price - £2.5million seems a lot. I suppose fees are higher in Jan when clubs are desperate. Could prove a bargain if he notches 6-8 goals this season.
We now have 4 strikers who could potentially do a job at this level. I anticipate some players being moved on, in particular Cresswell and Pericard.

Two very good signings. I'm worried about the fact that the Beattie deal is not mentioned on Sky and appears to be on hold for the moment. I hope this one comes off because it looks a great fit for both the player and Stoke.

Well said Pugs, and remember there's another 24 days to go before the window shuts. There's a lot more that can happen in that time

Not much age difference between Kitson (29) and Beattie (31 next month).
I've got to say, I liked the idea of Kitson at the time.
But £5.5m Kitson and £2.5m Beattie.
If you compare the CVs, you can't really say it's anything other than an absolute bargain.

I doubt you will find a striker who has scored more premier league goals for less money in the middle on the season. Not really a bad price at any point in the season, considering what we've payed for bench warmers this season (Soares / Tongue)

I'd say Beattie's price is about right - when you think Sheff Utd paid 4m for him after a duff time at Everton, resurrected his career and got him scoring consistently again (albeit in a league lower), then even with him now turned 30, we have got a bloody good deal and probably about as good a proven striker in the English leagues as we could hope to secure in the January window.
Beattie is the alternative to Mama we have desperately needed - he may not be quite so athletic, but makes up for that in spades by a vastly superior goal per game ratio. This lad knows where the net is and 8-10 goals between now and May is not an unrealistic expectation. If Ricardo can put in about the same and Kits/Mama chip in half a dozen or so between them, I'd expect us to be safe.
Very happy with this one - spot on, TP.

Who knows how it'll work out here, but when you see how well he's bounced back from his Everton nightmare, take into account his earlier Premiership successes and the eulogising of the Sheff Utd fans, as well as the prices quoted for other strikers who have comparable records over the last 18 months in the C'ship ,like Ebanks-Blake, it's hard to grumble.

I'd say Beattie's price is about right - when you think Sheff Utd paid 4m for him after a duff time at Everton. I'm not sure that I see your logic there Jezza. Sheff Utd take a gamble on him, when he's had a poor time at his previous club, and pay £4 mil. We then get him when he's on fire and pay just 2.5 mil! He might be 18 months older, but you can bet your bottom dollar that the Sheffield Utd faithful are up in arms at how much he's gone for. I think the price we have paid for him, is the steal of the season to be perfectly honest.

What I meant was that his price is about right, but in today's market where most players are ludicrously overpriced (I mean - Kitson for 5.5m, Soares 1.5m, Tonge 2m, Sonko 2m, Olofinjana 3m), it is a very good deal, an Adby Faye kind of good deal.
Does that sort of make sense? ???
