Too right, Mick, he had a blinding scoring run at the end of that season. It is a shame his arthritis stopped him reaching his full potential. I'd still take him over Perican't any day of the week.
It would be a sure sign Inchy has gone totally off his trolley if Vince makes a move stateside as well.

he had one of the most unorthodox dribbling styles of any player I've ever seen at Stoke, it looked as if he barely had control of the ball, yet suddenly he'd emerge from the scrum of players who'd gone into tackle him with the ball magnetically stuck to his feet. Seemed to be very difficult to dispossess and scored a handful for us too. He was never going to be a goal machine for us, and wasn't the most skilful player we've ever had but I always liked him.

"I am still only 28 and have my best years ahead of me as a striker." It's not like he can get any worse ;D Lets face it ;D Harsh.

At the time, relevant to where we were, I thought Gifton was bloody excellent for us.
Good Luck, GNW.

I can honestly say that i thought he was pretty poor at first but warmed to him when he was actually played up front instead of in the Mama role ,but come to think of it i was very nieve at the time and have come to realise since if grown up (a bit) that he actually did a very good and very important job for us
Good luck Gifton

funny how som threads start off and i think im living in parallel universe - then some sense starts being talked and everythings ok again. I always rated him and in the system we operated in Gif was a player definitely - actually one of pullis' better buys in my book - are some of you sure your not confusing him with lightbourne ;D

Gifton was great when he was with us. Good touch, strong and could score goals. As others have said, had it not been for his arthritis he would have spent much more of his career in the top flight.
Good luck GNW.

www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=921482Looks like today's the big day when GNW arrives in Texas. A delegation from the supporters' group are meeting him at the airport and his arrival seems to have aroused Dadason-like levels of expectation. Don't know what the standard is like but he should do well. Amazing that he's still only 29.

Gifton was a bloody good player for Stoke. Scored a few from the Mama position and worked hard to fill in spaces defensively, and when he was pushed forward he showed what a quality finisher he was. Good luck Gifton!
