Ha ha!!
I'm not quite sure if cocaine would be a performance enhancer. Although in his autobiographt he says he did used to take it a bit in them days but was completely clean before during and immediately after World cups. And there's no reason not to believe him as he's amazingly open about everything.

Jesus how pathetic some of the comments on here, most of you won't even be old enough to have seen the "hand of god".
Get over it and for those too young, you weren't there so nothing for you to get over.
He was the greatest player of all time. End of.

I wouldn't ever openly forgive him as i am old enough and remember it like it was yesterday. That being said your last sentence was totally correct in my eyes and for that alone he will always have my utmost respect and i'd happily shake his hand of god.

Ive been in the england fans + for years in its many different names. Ive missed one tournament since mexico, (if you dont included USA )....He was obviously very very talented but That handball was a disgrace, to do it was bad enough but to run off celebrating like it was a geniune goal was shocking, they still may have beaten us and that one moment of cheating scum baggery(yes its a real word , honest) overshadowed his wonder goal. Whats goes around comes around though and i like to think his many cocaine induced heart problems and weight problems are God punishing him for using the lords name in that cheating scum bag goal. I will never forgive him but will admit he was a talent...................................................... Especially with at shooting the press with an air rifle through his gates ;D

Yes he did cheat us big time but i'm well over it now and i prefer to "try" and remember him as without doubt the best player i've ever seen play bar none. Plus it's nice to see him looking a bit more human now instead of the inflatable version we've had for a few years. Plus in the football world we live in nowadays he was about as honest a player as you would see compared to what goes on now. Besides the drugs and the one handball i can't remember seeing him dive and he was strong as an Ox. too true trumpton. We were victim of a terrible moment in a game where we were also victim of the best individual goal EVER scored bar none. Yes it bloody hurt for a long time after but have to respect the guy and the way he played, unlike a Ronaldo today who spends half the time pretending he's the ref and picking cards out of his pocket. If he is booed at the Brit im afraid that will simply make us look like churlish losers with huge chips on our shoulders that last 23 years! grow up eh lads? yeh and we should all go out and buy germany tops and stop singing 2 world wars and 1 world cup

Did any of us fine fairplay loving England fans celebrate crouches goal against T&T? Fair point, not a great deal of arguement to be had there, Maybe its because it was a major finals with 100million people watching and we had a team capable of doing something for the first time in 20 years that made it hurt so much and his arrogance and lies afterwards...either way I dont like any form of cheating in football whoever does it.

I also dislike the cheating but the scale of bitterness over that gets ridiculous and all moralistic and pompous. It's as if no England player has ever done anything devious on the pitch ever. AND it all starts the stupidity where each time we get knocked out of a tournament we blame everybody else instead of acknowledging our inadequacies.

It isn't just that he's a cheating bastard though is it? For years and years he's been involved with 'Las Malvinas' political groups who want 'their' Falkland Islands returned to 'them' (Argentina) and he's made some very Anti-British comments in the press and slagged-off our brave soldiers who fought and died in The Falklands War.. Can't stand him...

Football will never be the same now. I saw the greatest footballer ever in the upper tier and we had eye contact. The great man saw me. xx
