Maradona - The Greatest Footballer of All Time Show some respect!!!! Not in the same class as Pele,Cruyff or Beckenbauer. Maradona virtually won a world cup on his own in'86.

"Yes he did cheat us big time but i'm well over it now and i prefer to "try" and remember him as without doubt the best player i've ever seen play bar none."
At his peak he was simply unplayable. never, ever seen a player with such balance, and despite his size, his speed with the ball over 5-10 yards was simply unreal.
A genius, touched by God, but unfortrunately will be remembered by using the same bloke's hand.
I quite like genuis' to be flawed. Ffs, what do we want - Botham to be more akin to Cliff Richard, Maradona to resemble Mother Theresa, Vincent Pericard to resemble a professional footballer?

Any chants worked out? A bit of respect for probably the greatest player of all-time or straight into the rather poetic Ronaldo-inspired 'W****r, W****r, W****r, W****r' , undoubtedly a classic of its type?

Droning on about the hand of God has become one of the biggest whinges in Englsih football. Does anyone really believe we'd have beaten them without it? We hardly got out of own half in the first half and our only cohesive tactic was, like everybody elses was, to hack Maradona.
In 1998 in France Mickey Owen dived to get a penno. That's right, he cheated. Did the English people throughout the world shudder at the loss of Corinthian spirit? In a word....did we fuck!
Amid the controversy surrounding him one thing shouldn't be overlooked.....when Maradona had the ball at his feet football entered the realm of magic.

I never hated him that much for the handball............ he's 2ft tall and you're telling me that Shilton shouldn't have had his mitts on it? Disgraced himself with his antics in Naples, ruined his reputation with his coke taking in the World Cup but is still chosen to run one of the best national sides in the world. A footballing genius! I think it would be superb if the cameras see a packed Britannia respectfully welcoming the man to our city, it may just do our reputation some good. Once done, follow it up by scaring the shit out of him and the Scouse with a deafening rendition of Delilah and 90 minutes of noise and passion. Make him think he's at Boca Juniors without the flares

The more I see that Maradona goal- the second one - I wonder more and more what Terry Fenwick was doing. For a start what he was doing in the squad is still a mystery but any defender of note would not have allowed him to get by- great goal and I know Fenwick was on a yellow but he basically put his hands up and said there you go. The actual finish was fantastic- the speed of his feet completely threw Shilton.
Magnificent player ( Maradona not Fenwick) but no matter who that goal was against was blatant cheating and blotted them winning the World Cup for me although I doubt they cared./

When did he take coke at a world cup? He got kicked out of the Argentina team in 94 didn't he for either coke or some other shit. It was the tournament he ran to the TV cameras after he scored and his eyes scared little children

It was ephedrine. It was in a sports drink his doctor got for him. In the lead up to the tournament he got special permission to use it from FIFA. Afterwards it was widely reckoned that FIFA allowed him to use it in the lead up to make sure he'd be there to gove the competition more frisson as he was one of few 'soccer players' famous in the USA.

A great player who should be given a warm welcome!
He is the most gifted player the Britt has ever seen and that's even after Sir Stan, Pele and Banks have all visited!
It's a pity he was so troubled.

He had five different substances in his piss which were illegal. Must have been some top cough medicine he mixed with the sports drink

Maradonna is a piece of shit and should be treated accordingly. When he scored these great goals, how "clean" was he? I hope to god they don`t bring on to the pitch for a healthy round of applause it could be embarrasing for both him and the club.

Embarassing? I for one would happily applaud the greatest footballer that ever lived.

Stan was a big inspiration to many yes.
People forget his performance against Belgium in the semi. That was staggering. And the pass to put Burrachaga through for the winner in the final. And in 1990 he was still massively influential.

When did he take coke at a world cup? He also did an advert for it when he was young, where he runs along keeping the ball up, people following him!
