Higgy has done reasonably well this year in a position which aint his best. I think most people would agree he is a much better centre back.
I reckon we would have a stronger side with a natural left back that can do the job of full back that we need. When higgy gets the ball at the back he plays the same long ball everytime. Its easy to deal with. Its not his fault, he just isn't a full back.
The central defence of shawrcoss and faye looks solid and with higgy as back-up it gives the back four more depth. A new left back would bring alot to the side.
I reckon michael ball would be decent target, good player with experience. City have just brought in bridge, surely ball isn't in their long-term plans?

totally agree mmf, higgy would be good cover for both centre half and left back which means we could rid out players like sonko, to add to that, we need a quality right back aswell. these 2 positions are weak links in our defense.

Personally I would go for Moritz Volz, who is on loan at Ipswich from Fulham, he's always looked a good player when I've seen him play. Then switch Griff to left back and put Higgy in the centre.

We may need improving there but we have much bigger fish to fry than Higgy at the moment. If it happens then fine but if the price fucks up transfers elsewhere on the park i'd be disappointed.
Improving on Cresswell, Griff, Pericard and possibly Kitson and Whelan are much bigger priorities IMO.

If we are trying to improve the defence then surely right back would be the place to start looking...

Whilst I see the need for us to improve in every position on the pitch; I don't think that Higgy is one of those that we need to get rid of too quickly. For the large part his positioning is pretty good, could sometimes get closer - same can be said of alot of full backs, other than that he is exactly what we need defensively. We can add all the bells and whistles such as a decent passer once the team is ready for it.

Said the same myself to be honest. Although not an obvious improvement the amount of times Danny gives the ball away is shocking to say the least, it's even worse now Mama is out.
Where can we get those sorts of stats?

These are exactly the positions that need top quality replacements with plenty of Premiership experience. Players who will walk straight into the team and make a positive contribution until the end of the season.
