Trying to take a few positives from the mess we find ourselves in..
Firstly, we currently have our best players out b either injury or suspension... on the bright side, we are playing the best teams in the league over the next few games and expected to get nothing anyway (I am not saying its ideal, but I would prefer our best team against the weaker teams where we have more of a chance of winning..
Secondly, our desperate need for flair, quick talented players as recently come to a head (more than normal) thankfully this time, is a time that the transfer window is open.
Thirdly we have 20 points, that is far more than Derby and far more than we expected.
Fourthly. hopefully today has highlighted that we have some "dead wood" in our team and they need to go sharpish!
Fifthly, we are living the dream. We are playing in the best league in the world with the best players. We have beaten Villa, Arsenal, Spurs and had a respectable draw against Liverpool.
Sixthly, we are out of the cup which isnt great, but now we can focus wholly on the league and keep Stoke City where they belong in the prem!
Come on boys, we are going through a rough time, but i believe brighter times are not far away
Be loyal, be proud, be Stoke!

Thank heavens for that - a positive post amongst all the drivel! Yes, it is painful to lose to Hartlepool, but they deserved their win and it's been worse than this, Blyth Spartans for those that are old enough to remember, and not forgetting Nuneaton. Besides, we're not the first Premiership club to lose to a lower league club in the Cup! Hopefully, by this time next week, the mood will have changed, it's a funny old thing game and so much is to do with confidence ... Prior to Blackburn, 13th in the league, then comes Big 'ead Sam and up goes their confidence and we lose! Then Man U, could only see one winner until Wilko's silly sending off and then the sucker punch, typical of the jammy Champions League winners (both times) of course and it's another knock for the confidence! Then West Ham and the self destruction and despite what we hear this week from the camp, surely confidence has been knocked again! And now this, BUT one big performance next week and the confidence goes sky high again and confidence will be the key to staying up. The problem is with players out injured and suspended and no time for any new signings (probably unlikely this week?) to bed in, next week will be a real challenge ... but you just never know ... and boy is Big Mama missed. Believe me though by next Friday, my glass will be half full again as usual and I shall enjoy the banter with a scouser pal at work and hopefully be one up on the rest of the Wiltshire gloryhunters!

Love your optimism but...
We were playing Hartlepool, not Barcelona.
Who knows though knowing Stoke we'll probably go and beat Liverpool, I hope.

Thats a terrific post Drmagic. It all depends what spin you want to put on it. Be interesting to go back and read all the posts the night we beat Arsenal. Suppose all the miserable buggers stayed off that night

I agree ukstoke1, lots of games to go. If we bring in the quality we so desperately need in January then why wouldn't we get at least 20 points in the second half of the season?

Suppose all the miserable buggers stayed off that night There are certain posters that only show up after a defeat and never post after a win, this leads me to think but not post awful things about them.
