today's result shows that we've become beset by a problem that isn't necessarily a result of being promoted to the premier league and playing better quality opposition. we are playing very poorly away from home. in fact, our away performances this season have been amongst the worst performances i have ever seen from stoke
i feel the main problem is the way the team is being set out by the manager
we are looking to appraoch games with a deliberate ploy NOT to have possession in games. we have decided to play deep in our own half and close down space around the area
as a result, we are coming under unbearable pressure, and not having any possession higher up the pitch.
i imagine that a good reason for our performance today might be because the onus was on us to go and win the game, something that has been hammered out of our players through very poor coaching, and i just don't think they can remember how to get on the ball and be confident in their ability to get a result.
away from home, things could not get worse. players must be lacking in confidence to such an extent, they must be demoralised
it is very poor tactics/coaching that has caused this
i would never call for pulis to be sacked this season, but it is very urgent now that he does something about it. he needs to sign several players, and we need a new start.
we need to change our approach away from home
if we go down this season without having done something to try to sort this out, i will then be one of many calling for his head. it is not the fact that we are losing so many games away, it is the way he is trying to approach these matches which to me is so objectionable and infuriating

we could actually start by having a bloody go, like hull do, show no fear nd try play our own game and not concentrate on stopping teams. were too predictable and easily found out

we need to think it like a home game! we are always singing are hearts out, backing up the boys, it just seems the lads can't do it for some reason ???

We go out not to lose away....if we can sneak a win it's a bonus. It's TPs way so get used to it.I,ve only been to 2 away games this season,Wigan & Blackburn.....both were truly awful performances.Save your cash lads and don,t bother travelling away....it's too depressing.

not depend on long throws, try other methods of scoring like craeting things from midfield!

The approach is suicidal.
We keep being told that there is better quality in the Premiership, so the "messiah" decides the best approach is to give the opposition possession and as much space as they want!!
Its not rocket science, if we have the ball we can't concede, well unless Paul Dyson plays for us again!

2 things we nbeed to work on, growing a back bone away as just lately we seem to have shed ours AND sorting out this disciplinary problem as I am sure if Fuller was on today it may have been different.
Injuries are crippling us as well/

Solution - get rid of that awful away kit (especially when they use the red shorts) and buy some new quality players in. You read the papers and we are the only prem team not linked with anyone!!

sign two PROPER WINGERS to give us width and quality out wide who can provide ammunition to our strikers, and do away with the "aaarrdd working" thick thighed plodders.

With the types of players we have, I can't see how we can change a thing. We are all set up for the long ball, knock it down scenario and we are too easy to work out. If things aren't working, we carry on doing the same thing, knocking it long and that's our downfall, using the same tactic too much.

Been away to Bolton and United i wont be wasting any more money.
Give teams enough ball and eventually they will score even Hartlepools of this world.
The reason we dont look like a prem team away is the negative tacticts.

I'd actually proffer that we don't go out "not to lose", we actually set ourselves up to lose, and we've got lucky on 2 occasions to get a draw, the 2nd half against Newcastle being the one exception where we've actually done anything other than act as defense to the home teams attacks. Pulis takes "playing it safe" to such a extent that it's not playing it safe at all, it's suicidal to do this i the premiership, I'm actually surprised we've not been REALLY tonked away from home thus far, I mean in the Liverpool game who could have complained if we'd have been beaten 8-0 ??? the amount of shots they had it's could easily have been embarrassing. We got lucky that day, and since then Pulis has set the team up like that, because in his mind that result validated his approach. If I were Coates I;d have had Pulis in the office to explain his shenanigans away from home thus far,

Everyone needs to wake up and start a fresh. We have Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Man City in th next couple of weeks - our goal difference could be drastically damaged if we do not sign some players. All that said if we win a couple of games you are in the top half of the table!
