These things happen and there could well be bigger upsets that will thankfully push us down the news agenda a bit but to see pretty much all his expensive summer buys be totally outclassed for an entire half of football by a side who were recently battered by one of the worst Crewe sides of the last 20 years is completely SHAMEFUL.
Those who say they're gald we're out are frankly, idiots and those defending the manager (and the players) after that abortion today are insane. Serious questions need to be asked about scouting, transfer policy and our inability to change tactics against even the most limited of sides.
I'm as embarrassed to be a Stoke fan this afternoon as I have been for a very long time.

Serious questions need to be asked about the manager his tactical nouse and his ability to spend money wisely.

It does seem to be going a bit 'tits-up' for us just lately, starting with the Hull game, I reckon that swirling fog is to blame, knocked-out of the 6th round League-Cup by Derby a few days later, then a very poor run of form with Players so deranged by breathing in that fog that they start hitting each other and embarass themselves and their loyal supporters by losing to a poor Division One team... But hey, there's always relegation to look forward too....

As Dave F states - ONE striker signed before a Premiership campaign commences ?
Yet we seem to have a squad of useless defenders and very average midfielders.
We have pissed away money on players who are not good enough, partly because we pursued a policy of wait and see and then panic bought
And it looks like we will do it all over again

It's the manner of the defeat that hurts most.
It wasn't so much a defeat as a capitulation.
An inevitable result given the paucity of the motivational ability of the manager.

I agree with Momo.
To all those who are the "now we can concentrate on the league brigade" Take your fucking blinkers off, If we cant do Hartlepool away then we are in big trouble.
It doesnt matter who we bring in January ,Pulis as wasted £23,000,000 so far so it does not fill me with total confidence that he will get it right this time, If i was Coates i would seriously be having second thoughts about bankrolling another spending spree!
Pulis has lost the dressing room, that is all evident to see when you see the inept performances and players (supposedly professionals arguing in front of 35k supporters)
Like it as been said in another post, any other manager of a team showing similar form, plus the latest embarrassment today would be facing the axe.
Longton.
