...what was your first experience of seeing Stoke getting dumped out of the Cup at the first hurdle? Mine was 1965, home v Walsall. Lost two nil after Stoke keeper Irvine got sent off for kicking one of their forwards in front of the Stoke end. Goal posts collapsed at the Boothen end at one point as well. We were well-fancied for the cup that year too. The Cup was major competition then and the crowd was over 35000 as I recall. I've never personally witnessed a first round exit thank God, no doubt some of you have

missed that one Salford, was working away and saw it on the telly in south wales
I also missed the replay when we lost against the Vale for the same reason but cant recall if that was R1 or R2. Was working in Dubai when we lost to Blythe Spartans in 1978 ish
Was at Old Trafford in 67 when we lost to Man U 2 0. I think that was third round too.

Vale away god i'd forgot that debacle, Dave Regis in the mud of vale park. I got punched in the mouth when we scored early on, should have realise it was going to be a bad night
